Heroes and Inspiration for America

Bear with me while I paint a picture.  There are people working hard and pulling together to fight against a  merciless foe in another part of the world.  This enemy has used charisma, wiles, and cunning to deceive an entire nation.  One day the nation woke up, and there were many dire days ahead.  A lot of people suffered.  A lot of men, women, and children died.

This was WWII.  Why do I bring this up now?

There are different ideologies at war with each other in our country.  Thousands of people in other parts of the world, can only imagine a country that would promote life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  No, happiness is not guaranteed.  However, everyone can have the opportunity to work hard and chase the dream that is important to them.   Others would argue,  it is time for a change.  Others would say socialism makes certain everyone has all their needs met.  The government will take care of everyone.  I ask, “Do you believe that 48M people are unable to work”?

The war of ideologies took a sharp left turn, when a President was elected who truly believes a hybrid version of socialism is good for America.  Instead of encouraging personal responsibility,  millions of people now have a “caretaker” called the government.  History has taught us that socialism has never worked.  Perhaps it is because we, as a species are only human.  There will always be those who are “takers” and those who are “producers” as spoken about by the late, great Ayn Rand.

This country is special.  For over 200 years, America has been a beacon of hope to all that enter.  All things are possible in this land of great hope and promise.  This has never changed.  People dream of America today as always.

There is a critical competition now between many deserving Republicans.  Why do I say deserving?  All of the people who step up in such a climate of hostility to try and make a difference, should be treated with respect.  Day after day, I have read articles tearing down Republican candidates.   My challenge to all who read this article is to weigh all the similarities and differences of the candidates prior to making a decision.  These are human beings.  There is no perfect candidate that will satisfy everyone.  What should we look for in a candidate?  In my opinion, we should encourage the heros who stand up and say, “I will try”.  Give them a fair shot.  Evaluate them, and vote.

Why should we resort to leftist tactics  against the Presidential candidates at a time when the country is at a crossroads?  These are honorable, highly qualifed individuals who at all costs to their personal lives and the lives of their families want to serve their country.

Remember what made WWII great?  Remember the people and the pride in their country.  Remember the sense of pulling together for a common enemy.  Remember what makes America great.  The most important thing to be done, is to unite, and choose the candidate who ensures Obama will be a one term President.

Conservative Message Promoted by Texas Coalition

Posted on April 26, 2011. Filed under: Conservative, Economy, Politics, Texas | Tags: , , , |

Some fantastic news was announced yesterday by the Texas Public Policy Foundation!  Several conservative organizations have banded together to launch a broadcast campaign reaching out to Texans on important fiscal matters.  We all appreciate our way of life here in Texas, and need to take a moment to listen to these messages.  They are short and to the point.  Fiscal responsibility matters in our state.  Let’s keep our state strong, and independent.  To continue, we must be willing to make the tough decisions now on the budget.

The founding members of Texans for a Conservative Budget include the Texas Public Policy Foundation, Americans for Prosperity-Texas, Americans for Tax Reform, Empower Texans, Heartland Institute, Liberty Institute, and the National Federation for Independent Business-Texas.

Tonight in the Austin area, the first television commercial will air during one of my favorite conservative shows – NCIS.  I am including the links to the three commercials, which can be circulated to others.  It is timely and critical that we bring pressure to bear on the Texas State Senate.  The House budget was done with a great deal of thought as to how the tough decisions today, would ensure our security in future.  As stated in my earlier article, the Texas Senate will add 12 Billion in spending.

Call/write/fax/visit your senators!  Tell them we do not have the money to spend!  Remind them of the coming Medicaid debt and other unfunded liabilities.

Here are the links for all of you to forward to friends and family:

America Now Taking Orders From Arab League

Posted on March 28, 2011. Filed under: government, Middle East, Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , , |

The President had his two cabinet secretaries out on the media circuit this weekend, trying to give a positive spin on military action he decided to take in Libya.  The result was more than underwhelming.  It was a moment of clarity as the two people, Secretary Clinton, and Secretary Gates became a bit rattled under pressure.

What did we learn?  The US will not engage unless a lot of other people say we need to do it.  Secretary Clinton’s answer says it all.  The spin from the President that we cannot stand by while innocent people are killed is a complete farce.  In Secretary Clinton’s answer below, she explains how the US “picks” who to save on humanitarian grounds.

On March 1, the Senate passed a resolution on the no-fly zone.  In Secretary Clinton’s answer she refuses to state that Speaker Boehner was against it.  Odd, that they had over two weeks, and couldn’t get it heard and voted on by the House. It was clear from her answers that she was unable to say Congress supported this effort.  Look at the choice of words.

So, the President’s own people have some difficulty explaining what is happening…

Quotes from Face the Nation transcript:

Bill Scheiffer Madam Secretary, let me start with you. Tens of thousands of people have turned out protesting in Syria, which has been under the iron grip of the– the Assad for so many years now. One of the most repressive regimes in the world, I suppose. And when the demonstrators turned out, the regime opened fire and killed a number of civilians. Can we expect the United States to enter that conflict in the way we have entered the conflict in Libya?

HILLARY CLINTON (Secretary of State): No. Each of these situations is unique, Bob. Certainly, we deplore the violence in Syria. We call, as we have on all of these governments during this period of the Arab awakening, as some have called it, to be responding to their people’s needs, not to engage in violence, permit peaceful protest and begin a process of economic and political reform. The situation in Libya, which engendered so much concern from around the international community had a leader who used military force against the protestors from one end of his country to the other, who publicly said things like, we’ll show no mercy. We’ll go house to house. And the international community moved with great speed in part because there’s a history here. This is someone who has behaved in a way that caused grave concern in the past forty-plus years in the Arab world, the African world, Europe and the United States.

BOB SCHIEFFER: But I mean– how can that be worse than what has happened in Syria over the years, where Bashar Assad’s father killed twenty-five thousand people at– at a lick. I mean, they opened fire with live ammunition on these civilians. Why is that different from Libya?  This is a friend of Iran, an enemy of Israel.

HILLARY CLINTON: Well, if there were a coalition of the international community, if there were the passage of a Security Council resolution, if there were a call by the Arab League, if there was a condemnation that was universal but that is not going to happen because I don’t think that it’s yet clear what will occur, what will unfold. There is a different leader in Syria now. Many of the members of Congress of both parties who have gone to Syria in recent months have said they believe he’s a reformer. What’s been happening there the last few weeks is– is deeply concerning. But there’s a difference between calling out aircraft and indiscriminately strafing and bombing your own cities, then police actions, which frankly have exceeded the use of force that any of us would want to see.

End of the transcript from Face the Nation.

So, we are now acting in concert with many countries because of what we “think” someone may do.  After the military efforts began, and the President asked Gadhaffi to go, the Arab League said this is a legitimate government and to not interfere.  This was a byline on the BBC one night after the military exercise began by the various countries.

On Meet the Press, more troubling statements were made by both Secretaries, that indicate the US has been heavily involved in conversations with rebels in most of the middle eastern countries.

Quotes from Meet the Press Transcript:

SECRETARY ROBERT GATES: I think that the no-fly zone aspect of the mission has been accomplished. We have not seen any of his planes fly since the mission started. We have suppressed his air defenses. I think we’ve also been successful on the humanitarian side. We have prevented his forces from going to Benghazi , and we have taken out a good bit of his armor. So I think we have, to a very large extent, completed the military mission in terms of getting it set up. Now, the no-fly zone and even the humanitarian side will have to be sustained for some period of time.

SECRETARY CLINTON: Well, I think it’s perfectly legitimate for members of Congress and the public to ask questions. The president’s going to address the nation Monday night. A lot of these questions will be answered. But, but I would just make a couple of points. First, on March 1 the United States Senate passed a resolution calling for a no-fly zone. That was a bipartisan resolution. There were a number of people in the House , including leadership in both the Republican and Democratic Parties , who were demanding that action be taken. The international community came together; and, in an unprecedented action, the Arab League called on the Security Council to do exactly what the Security Council ended up doing. Now, the United States and other countries were in a position to be able to act to enforce it. If you look at the coverage on Al Jazeera , if you listen to the statements that are being put out by the opposition in Libya , there is a great deal of appreciation for what we and others have done in order to stop Gadhafi on his mission of merciless oppression. So this was an international effort that the United States was a part of. I certainly believe it was within the president’s constitutional authority to do so. It is going according to the plan that the president laid out. The United States will be transitioning to a NATO command and control .

MR. GREGORY: Did Speaker Boehner raise any objections when he was briefed prior to the mission ?

SECRETARY CLINTON: Well, I know that there was a constant flow of information, both to members and staff. And, of course , the president had a, a conference with some members in person , others, many others, including the speaker on the phone. But we have no objection to anybody asking questions. But I think it’s important to look at the context in which this is occurring. And the fact that we have moved so rapidly to have this kind of international action taken answers in great measure the legitimate concerns of the people of Libya . And now, of course, we’re going to take it day by day . That’s what you do in a situation like this.

End of Quotes from Meet the Press Transcript

America has never witnessed so much unrest in the Middle East.  Secretary Clinton and Secretary Gates have acknowledged in many press briefings that our country has been engaged in a lot of conversation with rebels throughout the Middle East.  Now we have unrest in almost all of the middle eastern nations as rebels protest against their governments.  In the press briefings previously at the White House, it was stated that we are encouraging economic and political reform.   Our country is broke.  We have people at the highest levels involved in redistribution of wealth on a grand scale.  Government processes are ignored on a regular basis.   It is time for creative thought as to how to impede the progress of the liberals until 2012.  These riots in the Middle East are occuring because the flames of discontent have been fanned by people with agendas.

Since the general civilization of mankind, I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpation”  James Madison

Fresh Opinions from John Fund of the Wall Street Journal

Posted on March 27, 2011. Filed under: Conservative, government, Politics | Tags: , , , , , |

The Texas Tea Party Patriots Pac provided an opportunity to hear Mr. John Fund recently.  Having read many of Mr. Fund’s opinion pieces in the WSJ (Wall Street Journal), and listened to him on various FOX programs, I was looking forward to a discourse between a patriot group and Mr. Fund.   He had been mentored by the late Robert Novak, who was in a class by himself.

His last trip took him to Berlin.  To be a candidate overseas, one must be “approved” by the party leaders.  In America, it is a more interesting process.  The Democrats use a “Blind date” method of selecting the Presidential candidate.   Who is popular?  Who has the charisma?   They look at everyone, find someone interesting, and decide to “try them out”.  After they are elected, everyone gets to know  who they are and what they stand for as a President.  There were a lot of chuckles when this theory was disclosed.  Mr. Fund went on to prove his point by a brief review of some candidates in the last century.  There did seem to be a preponderance of evidence to prove the point.

What about the Republicans?   Who is next in line? There is a definite pattern of behavior from 1948 through 2008.  They tend to nominate whoever has been around a while.  This was true with the exception of one candidate.   The candidate was Ronald Reagan.

The 2012 role is critical to America’s future.  It is of paramount importance the two parties have a different process to select  the candidates.  He encouraged everyone to not make hasty decisions about who to support as a Presidential candidate.  The campaign trail wears on people, and in many cases the people change somewhat under the pressure.  Politics are too important to be left to the politicians.  Most notably in the 2012 race, is that the wide variety of competition will be good for the process.

After his short talk, there were a lot of questions from the audience.   The first one had to do with the powers of the Supreme Court.  He pointed out the powers of the Supreme Court were largely defined by John Marshall in the 1820’s.   Congress has the right to limit the powers of the Supreme Court.  At one point in history, Thomas Jefferson abolished many of the judiciary, who he felt were out of control.    Is it the most intelligent view, to be governed by 9 people in black robes?

One question that seemed to resonant was “how do we get back to the Constitution, given the overuse of Executive Orders to circumvent the process”?    Mr. Fund pointed out we have executive orders left over from the Truman administration!   The way we get back to that point, is by continuing to apply pressure to all the elected officials.   He found it shocking that the President spent hours convincing the UN to launch the no-fly zone tactic, and then got on a conference call with a few of the Congressional leaders to state the decision he had already made.

One of the poplular questions at every patriot event, was posited near the end of the session.  The query was on what his views  about compromise between the House and the Senate.  He said we need to be realistic.  There is no need to compromise on principles, but  there may be times when negotiation on points is necessary to arrive at the best solution for America.   The people elected to office have the difficult task of translating principle into policy.

When asked why there doesn’t seem to be any passion coming out of the new people in Washington, now that they have been elected…well the answer was very insightful.  Mr. Fund said passion is not always what you want from politicians in Washington.  These people need to learn how to write legislation, how to take in all the facts, and develop theories, etc.  There is a lot to learn when one goes to Congress.  They need to buckle down to learn the job, and get the job done.  The campaign is over.

He was supportive of  the conservatives in Congress.  He said people need to realize the 100B cut in spending was promised in September.  October 1 begins the new fiscal year.  By the time they took office, many months of the budget had already gone by.  The 61B was a prorated figure.  The majority of the spending is in the entitlement programs.  These programs must be reformed for any substantial budget cuts to be accomplished.  The conservatives do not control the Senate and will need to negotiate everything to get it passed.  That is the reality.

He did say there is some concern about patriots involved in the tea parties, who want to use it  for their personal agenda.  Many people are maneuvering for their 15 minutes of fame.  These people could be somewhat dangerous to the movement.  It is important that everyone question issues and people.  The goal is to take back the country.

He did not think the Balanced budget amendment will actually achieve what the people are seeking for fiscal responsibility.  His example was an amendment in Colorado.  Their law limits government spending and growth  to a combination of  population plus inflation.  A mechanism such as this needs to be in place.  Otherwise, the government will simply raise taxes to accommodate their spending habits.

My favorite part of the evening, was his idea about foreign policy.  At what point do we change from policemen of the world to night watchmen?   In Clinton’s administration, Hillary had become known as the “mad bomber” because she wanted to bomb everything.  Well, now she has that power.

On taxes he said there is a very simple solution.  When a person is elected to office, they should sign a pledge under oath and penalty of perjury that they will prepare their tax returns with no outside help.  The Congress receives $3,000 to get someone to do their taxes.  The crowd gasped after this remark.  Perhaps then they would realize the complexity of the tax laws.

Driving home, one felt energized there are people out there who do get it.  He understood so much of the process, the history, and the nuances.   In other words, he had knowledge and common sense.  Perhaps we need to list the characteristics we want in a potential candidate for the Presidency.

Are Patriot Groups Good or Bad?

Posted on March 25, 2011. Filed under: Activism, Conservative, Politics | Tags: , , , , , |

Tea parties and other patriot groups are the same as the GOP, Democrats, and Libertarians.  These groups are all diverse.  All groups are human beings inclusive of those with passions, fears, good people, bad people, fringe people, mainstream people, and those who lust for power and glory.

Full credit is given to groups that have awakened the country.  My belief is the GOP, Democrats, Libertarians, and patriots groups all have contributed to the awakening of a nation.   It has become an interesting drama unfolding as various patriot groups have fallen into the same traps as our National and Local Politicians.  Many groups have grown out of the new kid on the block who is working hard to make a difference.  What have they become?

People can be easily seduced by power and greed.  Patriot groups are no different.  Bullies have emerged who, much like 3 year olds, are demanding their 15 minutes of glory in the media.  These people typically stomp their feet, and take adversarial positions rather than attempting to get the facts and articulate possible solutions. They are rapidly losing credibility by the inability to remain objective and focus on results.  Other groups will gladly circulate innuendo without factual basis, just to become known.

My belief is the job will get done, if we remain, cool, calm, and collected.  Gather the facts.  Just like a lawyer is trained, know all the answers prior to asking a question.  Most of these rather loud, pretentious voices are just background noise and easy fodder for the liberals.  Preparation is key.  Look at the superior results by the Liberals due to their meticulous planning.

A good example of quality that yields results is a local tea party in Texas.  The group is very positive, and does extensive fact gathering, before approaching politicians. They have achieved credibility and are effectively getting people to listen.  Being well educated about facts prior to attending meetings, is their trademark. These patriots do not bully, or work to get any limelight for their efforts.  Quietly, and patiently the group works hand in hand with elected officials to help identify solutions in a very difficult environment. People listen to reason. The group is growing. The result has been amazing as local Houston radio stations have invited them to share insights and engage in further dialogue.  Their range of influence is a result of good preparation and execution.

Other patriot groups actively worked every waking moment to gain media visibility.  They call into radio shows frequently just to be heard.  Chasing the media at every turn is their modus operandi.  It has become somewhat of a joke by people who don’t currently belong to patriot groups.  These people fail to get the point. Their immediate goal is to spew vitriol and gain notoriety by having their name in lights.  Patriot groups such as these are not growing bigger, but actually deterring the public from becoming a part of the solution for America.  These patriots have allowed this type of behavior to define their group/mission.  In fact, the “mission” appears to be missing in action!

Many will say I have drunk the Kool-Aid.  No, in fact, I am applying a lifetime of business experience to a challenging situation in our country.  The strategy should be:  How do we get the country back on track before it is completely lost?  Instead I see a lot of small power plays to bully the Congress!  Has any of you bothered to talk and find out what is going on, before stamping feet, getting in front of a camera, and pretending to know how to get the job done?  IF people behaved this way in business environments, they would be fired.  A person is either part of the effort or considered counterproductive to the task at hand.

The facts:

1.  Conservatives only have the House.

2.  Conservatives do not have the Senate.

3.  Conservatives do not have the Presidency.

4.  Conservatives do not have the Department of Justice.

5.  Most of the higher court judges now have Obama appointees that legislate new law from the bench with zero conscience about it.

Given the above situation, whether 500B is proposed as a cut or 50B, is immaterial.  The Senate will stop anything that interferes with their goal.  We need to think of how to use the law to advantage and work with people currently in Washington to prepare for coming elections.  This means some items can be done now, to ready legislation and subpoenas for the upcoming event, when we do have the majority.  However, make no mistake.  There is zero chance of gaining a majority if we continue to be in the spotlight for attacking conservatives.  Other people listen to the news who are not currently involved in conservative groups. Major networks delight in covering negative events initiated by patriot groups.  Tens of thousands of people will be influenced by these events.

If you truly want to take the country back, be smart.  Don’t waste efforts further empowering the liberals.  The conservatives cannot do much, because we the people did not get the job done by taking control of the Senate. Function with facts and knowledge of how things were done and why. There is plenty of blame to go around for everyone.  Let’s put a period on it and move on.

It is time to get down to business with people who can help us as we put together a strategy and tactics to ensure winning in 2012.  NONE of us know everything that is happening in Washington.  My suggestion is either we stop whining, bullying, cajoling, and step up to working as a group to get the job done or give up now.

United we stand, divided we fall…..

House Votes and Reveals Achilles Heel

Posted on March 16, 2011. Filed under: Conservative, government, Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

Yesterday, the House of Representatives voted another stop gap bill to fund the government for 3 more weeks.  They cut a few more billion of spending, and thought this would pass the Senate as well.  This is a time when the government needs several things from Congress.  They need to fund the government through September.  This situation has occurred because Democrats were unwilling to pass a budget last year when it should have been done.

The second thing the Government wants, is to raise the debt ceiling.  A lot of chat shows have focused on liberal angst  including that of the President.  The President and liberals were speaking about “dire” consequences if the debt ceiling is not raised. EWWW, I am shaking in my boots that the commander in chief is trying to scare us again.  Remember how they tried to convince us of the “emergency” on healthcare??  Nothing has happened.  The world didn’t come to an end because it is not implemented yet.  Neither the President nor Harry Reid are willing to “negotiate” per the Republican leadership.  For some reason the refusal by those two parties to negotiate has disturbed the Conservatives.

Do we care?  I say we should not care when people who have shown little regard for the Constitution or the people can’t play well with others.  We have known from childhood that leopards do not change their spots.

Realizing the Conservatives can’t negotiate with themselves, as that would be foolish….what about a completely different approach?  What if we decided the people’s demands in exchange for extending the government funding?  Think of 3-4 major spending cuts and attach it to the bill.  If they vote against it, the liberals must not really have a fear of the government shutting down.  At that point, the Conservatives need to loudly talk about this, everywhere possible.  Use a page from the liberal book!  I am certain there have been more serious threats to Congress than we have been privy to in the public.  However, we must stand strong, if we have any hope of preventing the further takeover by the government.

Now is the time to use what the liberals want, and get some conservative tactics accomplished.  Conservatives have leverage now and appear to be unwilling to “tangle” with the  President or the Liberals.

What was most amazing today during the vote, is that 54 Conservatives stood strong and voted no to a bill that satisfies the whims of the liberals and doesn’t do much for the people.  Please see the list below of conservatives that stood strong and voted against extending government funding for 3 weeks with no real cuts!

Now we have a plan, my fellow patriots.  First we need to call our Representatives and Senators in Washington.  The people who are unwilling to make the hard choices, have become an achilles heel to the effort.   Make it clear, they better band together and use leverage while they have it.  ALL non-critical funding must be cut, as the country is broke.  As a taxpayer, I am offended we are giving money to a multitude of United Nations efforts when we are unable to care for our own people.  I am offended that we continue to give foreign aide by the billions to countries that hate us.  No union, or community action group should get any money.  I, the taxpayer refuse to give hundreds of thousands to study frogs.  They will definitely get the idea.

The second part of the plan involves reaching out to the 54 courageous people who voted no yesterday in the House.  We should ask them what we can do to help.  Do they have ideas?  At a minimum. we need to thank them for standing up for what is right and for the American People.  The list of 54 is below.

Do you know what Speaker Boehner and the House have accomplished?

Posted on March 7, 2011. Filed under: Activism, Conservative, government, Politics | Tags: , , , , |

For over two years now, I have watched every session of the House and Senate.  It should probably be entitled: “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”.  However, a new day has come.  Although America did not win the Senate, we did win the House by some of the most significant numbers since the Great Depression.

I have watched and waited.  Each moment of frustration, anger, determination, and valor was exhibited by Conservatives for the world to see on the floor of the Congress.  How many people in America would never be aware of how these remarkable individuals were brow beaten, taunted, and excluded by the Majority (Liberal) party?  The media certainly didn’t cover it.  I’ve tried my best to reach out on numerous blogs to make people aware of the literal transformation on the floor of the House.  It was clear to see the “light bulb” was going off for many of them, just as it had for the Tea Party.  They recognized how close we were to changing our country forever.

Stepping up the pace, I began to give speeches about what was being witnessed, so that others might know about the positive changes that were occurring.  As the frequency of speeches requested increased, the hecklers and infiltrators at these gatherings increased as well.  People were making fun of Speaker Boehner and stating clearly Congress was doing nothing.  I knew this to be lies, because of the dedicated time for over two years to the research effort.

Did you know that George Washington wept when contemplating the battle facing he and his men in surviving the harsh wintry weather at Valley Forge?  We have had many leaders who had greatness thrust upon them, and they were overcome with momentary emotion as they began their journey.  Is there doubt in any patriot’s mind at the magnitude of the task and the importance of getting our country back, before it’s too late?  I might have shed a tear or two as well, had this quest been placed upon my shoulders.  Speaker Boehner, like so many leaders in our past, is humbled by the whole experience.  Some of the finest leaders our country has ever known, have exhibited the same emotion over the honor.  He does not deserve the wrath of the conservatives in this country, but rather our support.

If you go to the majority leader’s website, the entire list of programs they have terminated, and the summary of all budget cuts is there:  http://www.majorityleader.gov/YouCut/  The first pass at cuts was to focus on elimination of any job killing programs, or obvious waste.  It is not an easy task.  I challenged myself recently to try and unravel very complicated Federal Budgets.  The fact that they are this complicated is an instant red flag to me.

The budgets are not all the House accomplished.  There is much more.  Go to the Republican Study Commitee website to get a better view of what they have done to date:  http://rsc.jordan.house.gov/default.aspx

In conclusion, perhaps we should all consider the tasks of the American people.  To prevent the further transformation of our beloved country, it is imperative to take the Senate back and the White House.  These need to be filled with as many conservatives as possible.  The unfortunate part of the next two years is all the good work of the House will likely be minimized due to the blocking of everything by the Senate with the liberal majority.

As good conservatives, what do you think the impact will be if we continue to slam the conservatives in the blogs and speeches for every move they make?  Do you think these actions could possibly persuade voters (or new people in the patriot movement) to change their vote?  If we whine and moan, without giving any facts….we the people are sabotaging our possibility of winning in 2012.  Think about it.  Do you want to be part of the effort to save the country?  OR, would you rather help the liberals completely rob us of our liberty?  The choice is up to each of us.

State Power Solutions and Obamacare Ruling

Posted on January 31, 2011. Filed under: government, Healthcare, Politics | Tags: , , , , |

Today a Federal Judge in Florida ruled Obamacare is unconstitutional due to the individual mandate. Because the mandate is so integral to all of the Obamacare law, he suggested the entire document is not valid.  Unfortunately, we have a few years more before this will likely reach the Supreme Court.  Until that time, many other dictates will be handed down to insurance companies, the people, and the Corporations that provide healthcare insurance to employees.

All of this does not change the fact, the system is broken.  The states who are loudly protesting the intrusion of the federal government into healthcare, must continue finding solutions at state level to avoid this overreach by the Federal government.  Below you will find a summation of various state options that I have been researching over the past months.  To protect state rights and the rights of individuals, one must strengthen the ability of the states to provide the appropriate solutions for their citizens.

Today, I am sharing an idea posited by the Honorable Ted Cruz, of the Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) and Mario Loyola.  Mr. Cruz was a featured speaker at the yearly conference of the TPPF in Austin, and a lot of education on state rights/powers was gained from this remarkable statesman.

The latest policy paper focuses on the Interstate Compacts in Our Constitution. An interstate compact is the agreement between two or more states of the United States of America.  Many interstate compacts have been created through the years.  Our Constitution dictates specific “behaviors” if you will, of the Compacts.  Interstate Compacts can regulate matters within the enumerated powers of the federal government that require congressional consent.  In prior instances of Interstate Compacts, it was accomplished by a bill or resolution that was subsequently presented to the President for his signature.  Yet, in other cases it has been an “implied” consent.

The following links are just a few examples to familiarize my readers with the numerous ways the Interstate Compacts have been used in America. Here are just a few examples of current Interstate Compacts that are successfully working today:

Operating agencies created by interstate compact

Refer to the policy perspective from the Honorable Ted Cruz and Mario Loyola for more detail on the use of interstate compacts:

http://www.texaspolicy.com/pdf/2010-12-PP21-InterstateCompacts-tcruz-mloyola.pdf

The use of state compacts has been used primarily when a group of states have something in common that needs regulation at a state level.  We now have multiple approaches to take back the power of the state.   The biggest question arises because there doesn’t appear to be any definition of how deeply a compact can intrude on the federal law.

When the federal government is all powerful, citizenry lose the ability to hold them accountable. Policies should reflect the values of those citizens.  The interstate compact is a tool for states to fight back against Federal overreach and more specifically Obamacare.  It is the right of a state to determine their course.

We are Americans, and perseverance is one of our finest traits.  The Constitution and our laws have provided us with solutions that protect the states and it’s people.  Now is the time to stop the erosion of those state rights by utilizing the tools given in our rule of law.

“I consider the foundation of the Federal Constitution as laid on this ground: That “all powers not delegated to the United States, by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States of to the people.” (Tenth Amendment) To take a single step beyond the boundaries thus specifically drawn around the powers of Congress is to take possession of a boundless field of power, no longer susceptible of any definition.”  Thomas Jefferson

The First week of Business in Washington

Posted on January 11, 2011. Filed under: government, Healthcare, Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , |

The American people were watching every move made by Congress last week.  It definitely was a rewarding activity, for once.  The Conservatives were prepared and set the tone for what could be expected this year.  Most Republicans are aware this may be a short lived career due to hard decisions that must be made over the next two years.   This did not deter them from hitting the ground running with the business of the people.

What was the most unusual moment?  Having the House members participate in saying the various components of the Constitution was long overdue.  For several years, members of Congress have proposed legislation and deals that would have made the founding fathers shudder with remorse.

What was the best educational moment?  Prior to the reading of the Constitution which was instigated by the Conservatives, the liberals wanted to know exactly what would be read on the House Floor.  The Conservatives explained that many words of the original Constitution were redacted by the Library of Congress when they were in essence, nullified by various amendments.   Most people in the country believe the original Constitution stands as is, and have not factored in the alterations that have occurred via the amendments and precedents set by the Supreme Court.  It was an inspiring event to watch, and most Americans were fervently hoping the participants recognized this event was a sacred honor.

Were the Republicans prepared?  Yes.  On the second day the rules committee hearings began the discussions and testimonies about Obamacare.  Majority Leader Cantor immediately proposed rule changes on the floor and shared the schedule with the Minority Leader, Steny Hoyer.  The organization and planning was evident.

Did the Liberals make any missteps?  Yes.  Ms. Louise Slaughter, former chair of the Rules Committee, suffered a great embarrassment in the public hearing.  Ms. Slaughter’s new position is senior ranking member of the minority on the Rules Committee.  She began by chastising and shouting at the Conservative Committee Chairs that were seated before her.  Her exact words were, “ I am astonished that the three of you sit there, and say the Republicans had not input or activity in the Healthcare Bill.” Ms. Slaughter quoted many hours and meetings that went into the Healthcare Bill.  Further, she said the Democrat Caucus had logged about twice as many hours in the effort.    It appeared Ms. Slaughter was truly upset by the Republicans for having these hearings so soon, much less, at all.  The media was crowded into the room, and everyone was riveted to her words.  The three men tried to answer her questions and make comments, but Ms. Slaughter continued to badger and speak over the top of everyone’s voices.  It was at that moment that something truly remarkable occurred.  Mrs. Virginia Foxx asked for the floor.  She pointed out the statistics cited by Ms. Slaughter pertained to the bill passed by the house.    Ms. Slaughter was misleading people about the facts. One could hear a pin drop in the room.  Mrs. Foxx went on to say that the Conservatives were not permitted amendments or discussion on the Senate Bill that was passed, and it was very different from the House Bill.  Mrs. Foxx had facts and figures at her fingertips, and quite frankly. Ms. Slaughter was made to look a fool.   A round of applause should be given for Mrs. Foxx who can always be counted upon to tell the truth and be prepared.

After all of the proceedings, we also learned the Republicans have a plan to take care of the everpresent Czar problem.  They will be putting legislation forward to fix the problem of non-approved people who bypassed the Senate evaluation process.   One of the concerns about this administration is the number of Czars, their radical views, their power, and the massive amount of money to pay their salaries.  The bill will address the problem.

The Republicans outlined key areas they believe are broken in the Healthcare system.  Their committees are already putting together simple documents proposing each solution.   The legislation from the Conservatives is likely to be brief as the document to repeal Obamacare was only two pages and very easy to understand.   Easy to understand legislation, with no trickery shall be a breath of fresh air.

For the first week, they earned kudos on organization and focus.  It was clear from the tone of the speeches and the content, that these people know the economic fate of the land is in their hands.  I look forward to the coming weeks of legislation as the 112th   The country will be watching as the people’s House is restored to a place of honor and truth.  There are no illusions that many of the people in the House  have been duplicit and corrupt in past years. However, this is a new beginning and if their activities continue with the high standard of the first week,  the American people will be well served.

A government for the people  must depend for its success on the intelligence, the morality, the justice, and the interest of the people themselves.      Grover Cleveland

A Heartfelt Patriot Wish for 2011

Posted on January 1, 2011. Filed under: Conservative, government, Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , , |

United we Stand!

My wish for all of us as we move forward, is that everything is questioned without accepting anything.

Here are some of the questions I had lately:

1.  What was the origin of the Omnibus Spending Bill and when was it put together?

Answer:  The primary 12 committees gave their recommendations for spending with regard to that specific area, early 2010 before the “Omnibus Bill” was pulled together.

2. Why didn’t the individual appropriation requests go through as individual bills?

Answer:  This was a strategic decision by the current House and Senate Leadership (Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid respectively) to put them all together as one bill at the end of the year.  This begs the question of what advantage would this be to the progressives who have actively sought to transform America.

3. Why was all the obvious “pork” added to the Omnibus Bill in spite of the recent election which spoke to the mandate of the American People?  WHO benefited?

Answer:  The media focused on Republicans even though they had less than 1% of the pork in the bill.  The majority of the media was focused on “hypocritical Republicans”.

4.  Did anyone notice the reactions of the liberals when the Omnibus Spending BIll was dropped by Harry Reid?

Answer:  Very little was said by the Progressives as they moved back quickly to the treaty and appropriation discussions.

It is as if they never intended to pass this bill……as if it never happened.

5. What result did the Republicans get with the introduction of this bill and the focus from the media?

Answer:  Teaparties didn’t ask any questions about the why, how, or when of the earmarks.  The Teaparties and patriots quickly jumped to conclusions that the Conservatives had added billions in earmarks after saying they would no longer use earmarks.   The media fanned the flames of hypocritical Conservatives and the Tea Parties  turned on the Conservatives.

6. Did any network ask when the earmarks were requested for things like Defense?

Answer:  No.  These requests were prior(by many months)  to the agreed upon moratorium on earmarks and prior to the release of the Debt Commission Report by many months.

7. Did anyone ask why the Congressional leadership chose to ignore the critical funding requests until the end of the year when the government was almost out of money?

Answer: No

8. Who controlled the majority in the 2010 Congress?

Answer: Democrats

9.  When 70% of the people were against the proposed Healthcare bill for moral and/or economic reasons, did Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi EVER cave due to pressure from the constituents or the Tea Party pressure?

Answer:  NO

10. Did Harry Reid and the liberals gain anything by dismissing the Omnibus Spending Bill?

Answers:

1)  Republicans threatened to demand the reading of the bill.  This would cause a lot of parliamentary delay (up to 80 hours if requested twice) and put passage of other bills at risk in this session.  The Democrats gained time on the floor by dismissing the bill.

2) There was plenty of time to ensure passage of the Arms Treaty (which weakens the US defense), and the temporary funding bill for the government.

These latter two bills will assist the Progressives on their agenda for 2012.

11. What did the President gain by this “compromise” on the tax situation?

Answer:  Some Independents, Republicans, Tea Partiers, and media began to say he is moving more toward the center, just like Bill Clinton.  It softened opposition to his Presidency to some degree.

12.  Did the President “care” about compromise when he refused to meet with any conservatives for about 18 months?

Answer.  No.  He continued to use his Congressional majority to ram the agenda down the throats of Americans.

13. Did the President “lose” anything on the tax compromise?

Answer:  A bit of grumbling from the left and saber rattling.  Nancy and Harry are still in place and they were able to get the liberals under control in under two weeks.

What is the moral of this story?  Liberals have proven repeatedly over the past two years that they are ruthless, and will do anything to achieve their agenda.  The Senate is still controlled by a Master Puppetmaster named Senator Harry Reid.   Leopards don’t change their spots, and patriots need to beware of trickery in the coming two years.

Obama and Cronies Sell Out America

Posted on March 21, 2010. Filed under: Conservative, government, Politics | Tags: , , , , |

There were so many great promises given during the Obama campaign.  After the vote last night,  it all became clear to the American people.  This administration does not like the American way of life.  We had suspected as much, but the ramped up activities of the last few months prove the case beyond any doubt.

We have seen the President of the United States bring disgrace to the office of the President, time and again over the last several months.  The minute he came to office, there were speeches given around the world by him, apologizing for American “behavior”.  He apologized to our enemies, and repeatedly had actions which served to alienate the allies of America.

The President made it clear early on in his term of office, that he was the friend to the unions.  In fact, the unions greatly influenced him.  Andy Stern, the President of the SEIU had more visits to the White House last year than any other person.  The Commander in Chief of this country’s armed forces chose to surround himself with advisors who admire Mao, Marx, Chavez, and many have broken the law.  He nominated a Treasury of Secretary who was guilty of evading income tax.  There is a Czar who has had questionable relationships with young boys.  The President appointed many Czars to positions without putting them through the Congressional Review Process.  This is in violation of the Constitution.   Sadly, America was unhappy with the last administration and were easy prey for this calculating man who does not love this republic or the people.

We have a man in the White House who does not refer to the Constitution, but constantly refers to changing America.  Yes indeed he has changed America.  It is clear that he is skillfully and aggressively dismantling the United States of America.  Since his time in office, he has pushed the progressives in the House and they have passed legislation giving the Federal government power over automotive industries, banking, financial sectors, student loans, insurance companies, and now our healthcare.  He had condoned arm-twisting, bribes, lying, and any other manner of unsavory thug tactics to get his agenda accomplished expediously.  People have tried in vain to ask if he condones this type of behavior in the Congress.  He adroitly avoids an answer, and fills the gap with rhetoric of how he is “saving Americans”.

At a time when our country is deeply in debt, the Progressives under his urging and leadership have continued to pass numerous bills which require more money resulting in a larger deficit.  Tonight they passed a large healthcare bill as their latest gambit to completely control the American people.  This will begin taxing the people immediately in a time when millions are out of work and small businesses are struggling for survival.  One would seriously question their motives after this blatant gesture of ignoring the plight of the American people.  These same people have their own healthplan.  The Congress refused to be on the same program for Healthcare as the American People.  How dare they?  Clearly, they are unaware of who their employer is at this point in time.  Obama cannot save them from the consequences of their actions.  The American people are not stupid and see exactly what is going on in Washington.

Furthermore, the legislation was written in conjunction with outside organizations that include lobbyists and union organizations.   This man has no scruples.  Chicago thug tactics are prevailing in Washington.  The radical left in the Democratic party are very happy with this state of affairs.  One only had to watch a small bit of the speeches on the floor of the House or Senate to quickly see the “Kool-Aid” glaze in their eyes when referring to the President.  Anything goes with this man, and the Progressives are openly embracing this approach.

Tonight was the finale in a long series of bribes and arm-twisting by the President and his cronies.  There was a special deal for Nebraska, Florida, Connecticut, Stupak, Vermont, Michigan, North Dakota and Louisiana that we know of at this time.  Special deals made for “special people” who would vote for the Healthcare Bill.  These special deals will be paid for with the hard earned tax dollars of the American People. There were 219 Democrats that voted for this bill.  Many were offered “deals” behind closed doors that we have yet to hear about.

We need to aggressively work this year to get rid of the traitors to the United States way of life.  There are 219 people in the House and a majority in the Senate that need to be voted out.  What were they thinking when they voted us into generational debt, and more unemployment?  They were thinking of themselves ladies and gentlemen.  These people do not deserve our trust nor our money.  Let’s send them packing.  My next article will include a list with some priorities.  Stay tuned – we have only just begun to fight!

Tenth Amendment Rights Town Hall (Part 4)

Posted on March 21, 2010. Filed under: Conservative, government, Politics | Tags: , , , , , |

This is the conclusion of the series on the Tenth Amendment Town Hall, which was held in Plano, Texas.  This final segment covers the speeches given by Governor Rick Perry and by Judge Napolitano.

The capacity crowd at the Plano Centre had spent the morning together learning about legal options for the State of Texas and for the country.  Now the audience would hear what the Governor thinks about the situation and what steps have been taken by his administration to protect our rights.  The Governor took the stage and prepared to share his vision of where we are as a state and what is important for all of us.

Governor Perry began the discussion with what the majority of us have suspected for quite a long time.  Washington wants to be all things to all people to get the votes.  Why can’t they secure the borders?  This is a fundamental need for the citizens of Texas and for the country, yet they show little to no interest in a resolution.

Our founding fathers believed in limited government.  Do a few things really well was stated over and over in documents written by the founding fathers. What happens when government goes unchecked?  Today the government is continuing to erode our dollars.

It is time to return to our values:  Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.  The unique possibility of an individual to pursue the American Dream without the interference of the Federal Government is what our country is about.  It is time for the Federal Government to be more respectful of the people.

The governor had some basic principles of governing which he shared with the audience:

  • Don’t spend all the money!
  • Have a legal system that doesn’t allow for excessive suing!
  •  Have a good educational system
  •  Government should get out of the way, and leave it to the people.

There is a reason to call for a balanced budget for the Congress.  Fiscal Responsibility results in a good quality of life for all.  Abuse of money and power never ends well for anyone.  We have learned what works in Texas.  Courageous men and women have done what was right in Texas.  Supply side economics works as exhibited by the businesses of Texas. People will be sending a message at the polls – are we going to follow the Washington method of economics, or will we be following the Texas model of economics?

It is imperative that State Rights under the 10th amendment be asserted to preserve the constitution and the vision of our founding fathers for a strong republic.  With those closing comments, the Governor introduced the keynote speaker of the event, Judge Napolitano.

The Judge took all of us on a journey through our American History.  He helped each of us to understand how we have lost some of our state rights through the years.  State rights have veered far away from the original intent as outlined in the constitution.

Can an amendment ever be unconstitutional?  When the 17th amendment was added, it took away from state rights.  This began the erosion of state rights.

The original constitution demanded no taxation.  The Federal government changed the law so they could tax us.  It began as a “small” tax and has been increasing exponentially year after year.  The more money they get at the Federal level, the more they spend, and the more money they need to cover their wish list.

The Progressives choose power over freedom.  During the time of Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt this was very clear.  The greatest fear of the founding fathers was that the federal government should not have too much power.  The aforementioned Presidents did much to instill the importance of power at the Federal Level.  They also opened the door to entitlements and dependence.

Since the Civil War, the concept of power dominated over liberty.  There was a shift in the priorities of the politicians.  Each decade that followed the Civil War illustrated more of a focus on new priorities rather than life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness outlined in the Constitution.

The Feds have learned how to buy away the sovereignty of any state by dangling money with strings in front of any state.  Why can the Federal government get away with bribing people, when individual would be locked up for the attempt to bribe people?

If the federal government continues to try to legislate every aspect of your lives, where does it end?  None of this is in the constitution.

Take Patriot Act passage as an example of the dangers when we ignore the wisdom outlined in our US Constitution.  After 9/11, this piece of legislation was deemed necessary to “protect citizens” from terrorism.  However, it was really unconstitutional in the assumption of sweeping powers not outlined in the Constitution. Today we have learned an invaluable lesson with misuse of the Constitution.  It is extremely unsavory in the hands of the progressives.  That is why it is so important that we do not take chances by ignoring the constitution.  We cannot predict how unscrupulous people may take advantage of inappropriate laws.

This concluded the remarks of the Governor and Judge Napolitano.  What an amazing educational experience!  A good idea for Texas and other states is to put similar events on for seniors in the high schools and also college students.  Imagine a stadium of students learning invaluable information about our government over a 5 hour period of time.  This is how we ensure a strong tomorrow for our country.

Tenth Amendment Rights Townhall (Part 3)

Posted on March 20, 2010. Filed under: Activism, Conservative, government, Politics, Uncategorized | Tags: , , , , , |

We come now to the third segment in our series on the Tenth Amendment Town Hall in Plano Texas. This segment focuses on the states’ rights panel, and the panel on nullification.

The States’ Rights Panel was comprised of the following distinguished individuals:

  • Texas State Representative:  Bryan Hughes
  • Rachel Brand:  Attorney with WilmerHale; Former Assistant Attorney General
  • Ken Emmanuelson:  Attorney and Co-founder of the Dallas Tea Party
  • Matt Miller – Attorney, Institute for Justice, Texas Chapter

There are several options that should be considered as the states reaffirm their rights. There was a lot of discussion in this segment on how the Federal Government has chipped away at state rights for decades. Interstate Commerce became an umbrella clause used to permit almost any action the Federal Government wanted to mandate. Several cases such as Lopez as come up that are bringing the rights back into the states.

States can refuse to cooperate with federal mandates. The entire panel agreed the states need to take their power seriously and step up and control the situation. The Texas Constitution defines everything perfectly and complements the powers given to the people in the US Constitution.

This segment began with questions from the audience on specific topics. One of the most lively discussions was about immigration. Given that the 10th amendment exists, is there a way for TX to enforce the immigration laws? As a practical matter, in Texas we are allowed to enforce laws. Representative Bryan Hughes stated “We have put more people and technology in the border area, even if we cannot do specific enforcement at the border.” Ken Emmanuelson thought we need to enforce at the local level. Everyone should do their homework and hold local officials accountable. The speakers agreed the concept of sanctuary cities needs to go. The panel thought it would be useful to institute e-verify.

Ms. Brand spoke extensively about the 287 G law (cooperative immigration law that uses Federal and State authorities working together) that is in place. Immigration law is very complex between the federal and state government. There are some instances where we need to accept fed money. She acknowledged there are some unique issues such as immigration that are paid by the fed government. We can’t arrest them for entering illegal, but we can arrest them for breaking other specific laws.

Can we impound the fed tax money and use it for our purposes? Per Bryan Hughes: Unfortunately, how can we do this without fear of consequence from them? Texas is one of the few states that can say no to a lot of the stimulus and other funds. It would not be possible to refuse all of it. There are many things that should be covered by the Federal Government.

The Nullification Panel was comprised of the following distinguished individuals:

  • Robert L. Flournoy: Attorney
  • Greg Holloway: Attorney and co-founder of Common Sense Texans
  • Hiram Sasser:  Director of litigation, Liberty Legal Institute
  • Dan Mornoff, Atty. K & L Gates

The opinion of this panel was unanimous with regard to the topic of nullification. Nullification is a possibility, although it is practically very limited in scope. This is clearly not the best course of action for the state or the citizens at this time.

Enforcement of State Rights is not the only means, but is the most immediate and effective resource we have to combat the Federal expansion of power. We do our job with honor and decorum, but we as Texans will do whatever is possible to ensure this government does not succeed in expanding their power. Texas is full of great men and women who are stepping up to ensure this government is not successful in limiting our liberty.

Nullification is like using a water pistol to put out a forest fire. You will be laughed out of court if you file stating federal mandates do not apply to us. In fact, sanctions may be levied against the respective state and the citizens who file this action.

The panel of constitutional experts agreed for a successful result, we need to pursue aggressively and collectively (as many states as possible) to maintain our 10th amendment rights. Legally this is the most effective way to ensure the desired result.

From the audience, there was some discussion on the topic of immigration and what we can do to limit Texas money from being sent out of the state by the illegal immigrants. The following suggestion was made: Is it constitutional to put a transactional tax on financial transactions going from here to Mexico? The panel’s response was: This is a good example of how to affect a behavior using a legal transaction, however yet again, this would involve a cooperative effort with the Federal Government because it involves a transaction that crosses the state border and involves an international transaction.

The panel was clear in their overview on nullification. This will not work, given how far we have come from state rights due to the decisions over the past decades by the US Supreme Court. The states must use the most powerful tool at their disposal for such an obvious attempt of the expansion of Federal Power. The choice is to use the state rights to protect the citizens.

DEATH PANEL by any other name = SENATE!

Posted on December 4, 2009. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , , , , |

This week the Senate was given a choice.  Do they accept the extreme cuts to senior citizen benefits in the proposed Healthcare bill, or do they put the senior benefits back into the bill by sending it back to be fixed by the Senate Finance Committee?  This was proposed as an amendment to the Healthcare proposal now in the Senate.

There are 500 Billion dollars in immediate proposed cuts to seniors.  From 2010 to 2020 senior benefits will be reduced by 3 Trillion Dollars as confirmed by the CBO to the non-Democrats in the Senate.       Here are a few things that are impacted:

1)      14.6 Billion cut from nursing homes

2)      7.6 Billion cut from Hospice Care

3)      137.5 Billion cut from hospitals who treat Seniors (primarily rural areas)

4)      Medicare Advantage

Medicare Advantage is essentially a private health insurance plan that Seniors pay into, to get additional benefits.  Seniors pay quite a bit for this policy.  Approximately 20% of the seniors use this plan today.  This plan provided lower deductibles, lower co-pays, preventive care screening, home health help for the chronically ill and many other things such as eye glasses, hearing aides, etc.  This is the first instance of the government electing to get rid of a private plan.  We will be seeing many more as the government uses their power to get rid of the competition.  One may say what is the reasoning behind getting rid of something like Medicare Advantage that the seniors pay extra for…..  Well, the answer is simple.  It is another payoff to get support.  AARP who is supposed to represent seniors used to be against the health bill.  Now they say all of their members are for it.  AARP has a competitive plan like Medicare Advantage that offers benefits to seniors at a much higher rate.  AARP stands to make a lot of money on this deal.  It is not about the seniors, it is about making money.

I used to believe in the inherent goodness of people.  The actions of the 58 Senators who voted to keep these cuts to senior care is appalling.  To make good on the deal to the AARP and countless others, they are voting to hurt millions of Americans.  It was the only way they could think of to “pay for the expansion of government”.

These are the same people who voted not to partake in this health care proposed in the plan.  Clearly they believe they are better than you!!   If they truly believe this bill is good for the majority of the people, they would also be in the plan.  The group it will advantage is some of the people in the US who have never contributed to a hospital insurance plan or to medicare.  It is about the democrats trying to “buy” the vote of the poor with Healthcare!

There are also provisions to have the illegal aliens on healthcare.  Again, this is about getting a large block of people who can vote for the democrats and their vision of a socialist America.

58 United States Senators weighed in on the value of seniors to society by voting for the cuts to senior healthcare.   This is a clear indication of what is to come, when the government is in charge of our heathcare.  The chart below has the name and state of everyone who voted to make life and death decisions for the seniors now and the seniors in future.  This is a very good example of how the bureaucrats in Washington will be determining who will get adequate healthcare.  Is it the answer to the healthcare woes to choose who to help with this healthcare bill and who to hurt?

These people are immoral and definitely not doing their job per the constitution.  Vote them out of office.   The underlined bold names are the ones up for election this year.  Do not worry about having to save this blog for future.  My Christmas gift to all of you, is that I will be publishing this every year so we can continue to get the rest of them out.  We must be diligent and help these people return home so they can learn what it is like to be a loyal citizen.

My only request is this:  Please share this blog with your friends and neighbors.  It truly needs to go viral.  Thank you.

One Step Closer to a Socialist America

Posted on November 21, 2009. Filed under: Activism, Politics | Tags: , , , , , , |

One step closer to a Socialist America

In recent months, strange occurrences have happened on a regular basis in the Congress and Senate.  Bills are being passed that give unprecedented power to the government and severely curtail the liberty of the American population.  This is an attempt to report on the most detrimental of those actions and what we can expect in the near future.   There are a series of events forming a distinct pattern. This premature decision making is pushing America further down the path to Socialism.

Now is a good time to take a look at the foundation of our constitutional republic.  So how is the republic faring these days?  In the constitution, individuals are given the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The government now regulates the automobile industry, the banking industry, the Federal Reserve, Social Security, the mortgage industry and healthcare (soon to be completed). They also have monopolies on Flood Insurance and Student Loans.  As the government has grown, the choices of the individuals have been minimized.  Immediately after the healthcare reform is completed, there is a large Cap N Trade bill coming up.  This legislation will dictate how much electricity you will be permitted to use, the type of lightbulbs to used, the choice of energy used in the home, the specific construction of new homes, how much you travel, and what type of travel (car, bus, airplane) is permissible to individuals.  The frequency of travel will also be legislated. New laws are being introduced that will mandate the choices an individual will be permitted to have by the government.  After this passes, what is left of the individual freedoms in this country?   Of equal importance is the fact most of these efforts involve a redistribution of wealth in America.

Have you been following the bill being proposed that will curtail freedom of speech? Bill 733 is waiting in the wings to be brought to the fore, when America begins shouting too loudly about losing her freedoms.  This bill will give the government the power to control the internet nationwide in the best interest of cyber security”.  The proposal is that people would have to apply for a license, pay a fee, and get approval from the government for internet access.  The “type” of permissible user will be mandated by the government. Currently there are discussions of adding language to legislate journalism as well.  Journalism meaning all newspapers and television news shows, talk shows, radio blogs, and standard blogs.  The regulatory Czar contends this is the only way to ensure quality journalism.  Imagine how the difficulty  if there were no internet, news media, etc.  How would the people know what was going on?  Mmmm, maybe that is the point! Three out of four primary news networks are controlled by the government to a large degree.   The regulatory Czar has already made alarming statements that in his opinion “people criticizing their government should be guilty of treason”.

Not too long ago on Cspan, there was a fascinating speech about this very topic from Senator Alexander from Tennessee.  He commented that people were getting letters and veiled threats from the administration when they disagreed with policies or had negative comments of any kind.  People have had their “hands slapped” by people in the administration and threats of withholding stimulus funds for their constituents were made.  This administration, much like the former Nixon Administration have been forming an “enemies” list.  Their attacks on conservative media have included several direct comments by the President.

We are currently involved in a domestic struggle to save our constitutional republic.  There are many in high places in the government who have determined they know what is best for America, regardless of what the constitution states.  Several of them are known advocates of Socialism and Marxism.  These elitest people with the controlling notions truly believe they are smarter than the 312M+ patriots who live in the USA.  Their idea is to “protect” us by telling us what we can and cannot do.

The majority of current government representatives agree with the administration and  believe in redistributed wealth.  One of the easiest ways to get redistributed wealth to work is via heavy taxation.  The government retains control of most of the public’s money and distributes funds to whom they deem to be worthy.  This whole effect is called socialism.  The movements toward Socialism  have been creeping up on Americans for decades.  Look at the number of taxes we currently have (over 20).  There will now be 9 more taxes with the health “plan” passed by the Senate in the form of direct and excise taxes.  Examine the billions given in grants each year or in government allocations.  Re-distribution of wealth has been at play for a while now in America.

It is time to stand up and demand these people vote in line with the Constitution.  They do not have the rights to govern our liberties and determine how much liberty an individual has in the United States of America.  Let your voices be heard.  More to follow…..

The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men.     Samuel Adams

Health care moment #4 to think about

Posted on November 20, 2009. Filed under: Activism, Politics | Tags: , , , , , , |

We now have the Senate version of the healthcare bill. In this masterpiece of paperwork, otherwise known as massive evil personified, we find the first semblance of rationing and discrimination toward a large demographic group in the United States.

Today’s standards on breast cancer prevention, have been set by reknown oncologists who based their recommendations on years of exhaustive studies. Currently they say beginning at age 40, women should have annual mammograms to be safe. Doctors worldwide advise their patients to do self-examinations on a regular basis to catch this disease if it occurs between the annual check-ups. The reason for this was based on the rapid spreading of this particular type of cancer.

What do we have in this healthcare bill? The new plan proposed by the Senate outlines their plan for preventative healthcare for women. The document specifically states women beginning at age 50 will receive a mammogram every two years. In addition, they say there is no reason to continue the self-examinations. I was incredulous when a Democratic Senator on the floor of the Senate was  justifying all of this based on one new opinion submitted by a study group.  Statistics introduced by the Democrats say 1 person out of every 1,904 will get breast cancer before 50. Application of this new statistic applied to millions of women over the age of 40 indicates these are considered the “acceptable” losses by the Democratic party.

In addition, there have been statements by several of the Senators in their speeches, that women really don’t need to continue the self-examination process any more. This has been advocated by the medical profession worldwide for decades due to the rapid growth of this particular type of cancer.

If you have friends, mothers, sisters, daughters, please share this information with them. It is discrimination at best and it is advocating an “acceptable” loss of life for women. Make a note this will be the first outright rationing of healthcare in the United States, and it hasn’t been passed yet. What other medical decisions will the bureaucrats make for the rest of us?

I will close this update with a sobering quote as we continue the investigation into the proposed government healthcare.

Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have … The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases.     Thomas Jefferson

Health care Moment #1 to think about

Posted on November 5, 2009. Filed under: Politics, Uncategorized | Tags: , , , , |

Here are two big items buried in the text of the new Pelosi Health care Plan.

Take a look at the unique verbage our government is using to mandate health coverage for illegal aliens. Take a look at how we define who is covered…

(A) Section 59B of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, except that any resident of the territory who is not an affordable credit eligible individual but who would be an affordable credit eligible individual if such resident were a resident of one of the 50 States (and any qualifying child residing with such individual) may be treated as covered by acceptable coverage.

The information below puts current retiree benefits through their former employers at risk. In addition, if you retire after a certain time, you will no longer be permitted to have that insurance benefit offered by the former employer. In many cases retirees from large corporations pay little if any for their premiums. Now they will have unforseen expenditures on the public option – and this on their fixed income.

As of Y1, day 1 of the Government program, no retiree will be permitted to sign up for a retiree health insurance plan from their employer.
As of Y1 day 1 of the Government program, no current retiree health care plan can change the benefits offered or the cost. At this point, the government committee will review the plan to see if it is “acceptable”.  If the plan is deemed unacceptable, the retiree will be enrolled in the consumer option.

Watch this space for more…please circulate.

German Speech to Joint House Session Today

Posted on November 3, 2009. Filed under: Activism, Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , |

I was in process of doing my blog research this morning by watching the joint session of congress. Pelosi and the President had arranged for the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel to speak. The end goal of the Marxists and Socialists in our government, may be apparent after hearing her speech.

1. The chancellor gave credit to JFK for the actual fall of the wall.
2. She is calling for the importance of a “global economy” shared by the countries of the world to avoid economic problems in future
3. Further the chancellor is talking about how key a world order will be to help preserve our planet.
4. Chancellor Merkel gave several examples about how the various countries had all helped each other in the past, to lay the initial groundwork in her speech.
5. Bear in mind it was Germany who led the way in the formation of the European Union.
6. In several instances, she reiterated Europe is free like us!
Editorial note: Europe is NOT like us. I have lived and worked there in the past. We have far more liberty as individuals.
7. The chancellor also spoke a great deal about the importance of allies standing united on common goals and the importance of the UN for peacekeeping.

Let’s examine the role of the global warming argument and see how this fits into what we are seeing and hearing from many around the world (including our own government). Noted scientists around the world (including our own from MIT) have published reports that global warming cannot be proven in any way. Perhaps this is another intellectual notion by the “inventor” of the internet, Al Gore? Global warming is a “scam” by the left to control the economy of the world.

I listened to Lord Monckton last evening at a tea party rally in Houston. Read the Copenhagen Treaty to get more information. It is now my strong opinion this is the “end goal” of the group of socialists and marxists who have exerted control of the government. They want a world order which will firmly establish them with power and wealth beyond anything imagined.

The government now controls automobile, banking, and social security amongst other things. Is it coincidence that Secretary of the Treasury, Timothy Geithner, spoke about a preference for a world currency? The Manufacturing Czar spoke about free enterprise being bad for everyone. The Science Czar spoke about the importance of using less material resources so the poor will become prosperous.  The Nobel prize committee are made up of primarily socialists and marxists.  The committe made statements after the award that they hope for significant change in the world due to President Obama.  America, where are you in this line of thinking?  And now the proposed Health care plan will ensure yet another major control over Americans and begin the redistribution of wealth inside the USA.

We must be vigilant and resist in every way possible. The first thing we need to do is stop the healthcare plan from moving forward. In Tandem, I suggest we need to educate others as quickly as possible about the ramifications of the suggestion of a world order. A major step toward that “world order” will be redistribution of wealth via the Copenhagen Treaty.

It has never been more critical to reach out to our neighbors, friends, and colleagues to get the word out. America is a constitutional republic and will be staying that way!   It is up to us.

New Health Plan set to “Crush” the Middle Class

Posted on October 30, 2009. Filed under: Activism, Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , |

Editorial note: All the numbers and facts were obtained from the Census Bureau, Unemployment figures, Medicaid and Medicare information, the CBO letter to the House and the Healthcare Proposal released on October 29, 2009.

Let’s begin with stating the facts we can all agree upon at this time. The most pressing problems with current healthcare systems are as follows:

  1. Non-coverage of pre-existing conditions
  2. Some people don’t have coverage
  3. Can’t afford it
  4. CHOOSE not to have it and save money
  5. High premiums

The new plan, will allegedly result in a neutral monetary impact for the government (current admiministration claim). The Congressional Budget Office claims the cost will be close to 1Trillion dollars. Yet with the increased taxes on the people, there will be minimal negative impact to the government deficit. With the increased tax, and medicare and Medicaid cuts, it won’t impact the government. It will most severely impact the middle class. The Medicaid cuts won’t begin to address the fact they are including a larger group of people in the Medicaid program under the new Healthcare plan. The people who work and contribute will be paying exorbitant premium increases to accommodate the many new inclusions in the healthplan.

In a nutshell, here is how the new plan will be paid for by working Americans (numbers from Bureau of Census, Unemployment Department and the Social Services Branches of government respectively) : The premium percentage limit specified will be based on the modified gross adjusted income of the people who are working. If you strive to work hard and reap the rewards of a free enterprise system, this Healthplan will be penalizing you on the reward.

Take a look at the numbers:

  1.  # of 18 and under: 73.9M
  2.  # of unemployed in the country at this writing: 15.1M
  3.  # of working age adults = 191.2M

What do the numbers mean to America with this new health plan?

191.200,000        Working age people in this country.
– 15.100,000        Unemployed people
176.100,000        Working age people  employed
– 3,950,357           Working age people on welfare
172,149,643          Working age people who are employed
– 46,995,000        Approximately uninsured in the country
125,154,643          Working age people who are employed
– 11,900,000       Estimated number of illegals in the country as of March 2009
113,254,643        Approximate total number of gainfully employed people

307,818,616         Total population per census bureau
-255 ,143 ,000      # of people covered on insurance in 2008 census
  52,675,616           Not insured
– 11,900,000        Estimated illegal aliens
40,775,616            People who are legal and uninsured (13.25% of population)

If we look at the number of gainfully employed people (primarily middle class), these numbers and the newly proposed healthcare plan tell a specific story:

  1. Increase benefits for Medicaid recipients from 57% contribution by the government to 91%
  2. Poverty level now to be determined by up to 150% of the actual poverty guidelines (Millions more of the population will be able to go on government sponsored Medicaid)
  3. Employers will be better off financially paying the fine, not offering coverage, and simply have employees take public options
  4. Parents will be required by law to provide insurance coverage for children up to the age of 27

Whether we include the illegal immigrants or not, the tax burden for the above mentioned items, and to insure non-working people falls squarely on the shoulders of the middle class. There are some slight numerical differences noted in the reports from the various government agencies – but you can see the concept of what is happening here. The primarily middle class working Americans will be paying for everyone. The majority of the companies will opt to pay the fines and the employees will need to go on the public option. This will save the companies money and result in a premium that is 3-4 times higher (conservative estimate) than what a person pays today. This factors in the company is no longer subsidizing the person’s premiums, benefits are improved, and the person must contribute to paying for the non working individuals.

**New plan includes $558 billion in revenues from tax provisions (per CBO)

The changes in revenues include effects on Social Security revenues, which are classified as off-budget. Starting in 2013, nonelderly people with income below 150 percent of the Federal Poverty guidelines would generally be made eligible for Medicaid; the federal government would pay a share of the costs of covering newly eligible enrollees that averaged about 91 percent. (Under current rules, the federal government usually pays about 57 percent, on average, of the costs of Medicaid benefits.) In addition, states would be required to maintain current coverage levels for individuals under Medicaid and some children in CHIP through 2019. Beginning in 2014, states would shift some children in CHIP to Medicaid, but the federal government would continue to provide enhanced reimbursement, which currently averages about 70 percent, to states for providing such benefits. CBO estimates that state spending on Medicaid would increase on net by about $34 billion over the 2010–2019 period as a result of the provisions affecting insurance coverage.

There were many other “addons” that were unnecessary but which directly burden the taxpayers. This is another good example of zero fiscal responsibility in the House at this time. They won’t be paying the bill – we will! For instance the government will judge the geographies of each state to determine cost of living adjustments. An example would be that Texas has a good economy and a much better cost of living than California. The cost of living adjustment means a Californian would pay less and a Texan would pay more to make up the difference. If you believe the country is suffering economically now, just wait until your insurance premiums quadruple to pay for all the extras in the new plan. It doesn’t just “fix” the issues in the healthcare system, there are noticeable “improvements” for the non working people in the country. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a classic redistribution of wealth in the country.

#12 Representative Henry Waxman, It is time to go!

Posted on October 28, 2009. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , |

Waxman

Congressman Henry Waxman (Dem) was elected to Congress in 1974.  He is up for re-election in 2010.

There are volumes about this man and what he has done in the government since 1974.   I will attempt to touch on the most salient points, as I found him to be one of many “blights” we are seeing in the American government today.  Representative Waxman has moved residence 3 different times in his career and has been elected in three different voting districts.  He has sponsored 149 bills in his career and 6 have passed.  The primary watchdog groups in the country have rated him as being consistently far left in his views.

Representative Waxman has worked with the Apollo Institute to generate the Cap N Trade Bill.  People reported on the ideas of the Apollo Group for economic recovery and Cap N Trade as far back as 2003.  Evidence can be found of this.  The bills that were passed by the Congress are almost identical to the left wing lobbyist ideas to be found on the Apollo Institute website.

Who is the Apollo Institute?  They are an organization made up of various unions in the country and other special interest groups gathered under the umbrella of Apollo Institute.  One of the many left wing financial supporters Apollo Institute is the Joyce Foundation. This is the group often associated with trying to get rid of the people’s right to bear arms. There are numerous known Marxists and Socialists who support the Institute. The Apollo Institute claims to be a non-profit and is owned by the Tides Corporation.  These are the people who produced the indoctrination video that was purchased by over 7,000 schools.  The film taught the children that capitalism is bad for the people of America.  Do you know who will benefit from the Cap N Trade Bill that was designed primarily by the Apollo Institute? Their board members consist of people who own heavy interests in alternative energy companies and in companies that produce the components for solar energy.  The majority of their members are the 17 largest unions in the country and the major lobbyists in the US.

There are two obvious questions to ask.  What is in it for all the unions?  What is their real end goal in getting their goals accomplished?  What did they get out of the American Recovery Act and what will they get from the Cap N Trade?  What was in it for Representative Henry Waxman to do their bidding on two major pieces of legislation (Healthcare bill HR3200 before Congress and the Cap N Trade Bill)?

The small business groups have rated Congressman Waxman in the lower percentile groups throughout his career.  He does not favor small entrepreneurial enterprises in his legislative votes.   Clearly his allegiance is to the labor groups and lobbyists if one looks at his overall record on voting and his public speeches.  The American Taxpayer group has rated his performance an F most recently and very low in prior years.  Representative Waxman has voted to spend more money and grow government at every opportunity regardless of the state of the economy.  The conglomerate of lobbyists and unions has the ear of Henry Waxman , more than the people of the United States.

He was a co-author of legislation that abolished mandatory retirement for Federal employees and raised the retirement age in the private sector from 65 to 70.  Please note this increases the time an elderly person must work in most cases.  It also does NOT apply to the politicians in the Congress, Senate, and Judiciary that govern all of us.

Representative Waxman voted against the proposed bill to withhold federal funds to ACORN.  This organization is being investigated in 14 states for voter fraud.  There have also been several covert films made recently that captured the ACORN people advising people on how to handle businesses with underage prostitutes.  This man clearly has some kind of motivation to “protect” interests with ACORN.

In 2009, Rep. Waxman became Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. The Energy and Commerce Committee has principal responsibility for legislation and oversight in the areas of public health, consumer protection, food and drug safety, air quality, the environment, energy, telecommunications, and interstate and foreign commerce.  After all the years of dubious associations, poor judgment, and lavish spending, can Henry Waxman be entrusted with such a powerful position in our legislature?

His allegiances aren’t in the best interest of the people, if you look at his entire record.  There is no plausible explanation as to why he would choose to continue to give taxpayer money to an organization under investigation in so many states.  Representative Waxman, you have been in office too long.  It is time to go!

“If we resort for a criterion to the different principles on which different forms of government are established, we may define a republic to be, or at least may bestow that name on, a government which derives all its powers directly or indirectly from the great body of the people, and is administered by persons holding their offices during pleasure for a limited period, or during good behavior.”

#11 Representative Anthony Weiner, It is time to go!

Posted on October 23, 2009. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , , , , , |

weiner

Congressman  Anthony Weiner (Dem), was first elected to the House in 1998.  He is up for re-election in 2010.

This Representative  has become known for being one of the “point” people on the Healthcare Reform options being considered by the Congress and the Senate.

Weiner Responds To Senate Finance Committee Rejection Of The Public Option

Congressman Anthony Weiner (D – Queens & Brooklyn), Co-Chair of the Caucus on the Middle Class and member of the House Energy & Commerce Committee released the following statement on today’s Senate Finance Committee vote rejecting the public option:

“It should come as no surprise that the Finance Committee rejected the public option amendment offered by Senator Rockefeller”

“After all, the health insurance lobby has won virtually everything it has fought for in the Finance Committee to date.”

“Fortunately, the bill is not being written in the Senate Finance Committee.”  “The American people support a public option. Doctors want a public option. The President has said he wants a public option. Without a public option there will be no competition, no cost containment and less choice. That is why it will be part of the bill.”

Polls and newscasts have begun to show the “facts” stated above, in the Senator’s speech, are not true.

Here are some key facts on the Senator’s record:

1)     Weiner has been onboard completely with the Obama administration’s lavish economic policies from  the beginning.

2)      His “good judgment included a request to release a man from prison who had received a life sentence for passing classified information to Israel.   Clearly the deed was serious enough to receive this sentence as dictated by the laws of the land, yet Congressman Weiner wanted a “custom” justice mandated for his cause.

3)      He touted how much the stimulus plan would “help NYC”.  It is now nearly at the end of October 2009.  There have not been any new jobs created in the entire state of NY by this bill (per recovery.gov).  Given the text of his earlier speech it appears the NYC area will be recipients of entitlements and grants.  The entire country (primarily the middle class) will be taxed to pay for NYC initiatives is what this means.  People in Brooklyn and Queens (the middle class) will be getting new taxes as well to help pay for the enormous stimulus package.  Somehow in the speeches he fails to alert constituents of the tax bill they will be paying for many years due to this law.

4)      Most recently, he had blasted the Social Security Administration for not giving a cost of living raise to the elderly.   This seemed odd given there was no cost of living increase in the economy this year per statistics.  **Remember he is up for election in 2010.

His resume and speeches indicate a person very “hungry” for the power and notoriety that comes with politics.  For instance, since the beginning he has touted a special “bond” and support for the middle class.  The middle class represents the majority of his New York district.  Usually he has attempted to introduce tax cuts for the middle class when it is close to an election year.  Yet, he is now proposing a sweeping Healthcare Reform Bill with a public option that would result in a much heavier taxation of the middle class and impose hardships on the elderly.  Representative Weiner has been in the “limelight” on the House Floor anytime there is an opporunity to be high profile on pro-Obama administration positions.  His speeches for the middle class are visible in every major talk show.  This keeps the people back in his District happy because they visibly “see” him saying things in support of them.  However, on the floor of the Congress  he has has been a strong supporter of virtually every major spending initiative by this administration (which will definitely result in hardship for the middle class).  This ensures he will get campaign support on a priority basis from this administration.

Recently in the Congress several amendments were brought forward to “itemize” several Solar studies and projects in the range of hundreds of millions of dollars.  May I remind everyone that Exxon Mobil, and all the other oil majors around the world have done exhaustive studies in this area and determined the technology is not there at this time to make this a cost effective solution for America or anyone else.  Yet, the Democrats passed all the amendments without flinching spending hundreds of more millions of dollars when the country is deep in debt and in extreme trouble financially.  Senator Weiner has made statements that this administration is progressive and “tackling” all the hard issues.  So now the politicians believe they can resolve all the issues with solar, regardless of the consistent and numerous results found by other expert studies over the past 5 years.  Did I mention that many of the companies who will be recipients of these millions of dollars in funds for studies are heavy Democrat supporters?  How convenient as we are approaching another election year for many of the heavyweights in the Democratic party!

So what is real?  His desire to help the middle class in election years, or his eagerness to “perform” on camera for the White House?  There is a consistency in his voting and numerous speeches on the House Floor.  He will support  all visible Democrat initiatives regardless of whether it benefits his beloved middle class.

Representative Weiner has been the protégé of Senator Schumer for several years, and is well-known as someone who has full and easy access to all the powerful people in the current administration.  From all appearances and from his pattern of behavior this appears to be another “Schumer in training”.  Is this really a good thing for the Constitutional Republic?  Congressman Weiner has quickly become the “consummate” politician learning how to placate his constituents in a visible manner and be the “popular guy” with the White House.  For this adept ability to speak from both sides of his mouth almost simultaneously, Congressman Weiner, it is time to go!

Whenever a man has cast a longing eye on offices, a rottenness begins in his conduct.  ~Thomas Jefferson

#10 Senator Schumer, It is time to go!

Posted on October 8, 2009. Filed under: Activism, Politics, Uncategorized | Tags: , , , , , |

 Charles Schumer

Senator Charles Schumer was first elected in 1998 to the Senate.  He is up for re-election in 2010.

Schumer Offers Major Revision To Health Care Reform Bill To Address Affordability Concerns

Proposal Would Expand Hardship Waiver To Exempt More Americans From Mandate To Buy Insurance If Affordable Plans Are Not Available–Current Bill Sets Threshold At 10% Of Income; Schumer Amendment Lowers Bar To 8% of Income

Schumer Amendment Would Also Eliminate Penalty For Americans Who Fail To Buy Insurance In First Year Of Overhaul; For Second Year, Penalty Is Reduced By 50 percent

Editorial Note:  This is what the Senator has not “revealed” in his effort to save money for the poor:  It is true the poor will not be forced to pay for insurance if they cannot afford it.  The other half of the truth is that all of the Democratic speeches for the last several months and the President all concur that no one will be without insurance.  Connect the dots and I guess the “hardship” cases will be funded by the government (taxpayer money)?  A bill has already been drafted to insure all “illegal aliens” will be given amnesty.  This will automatically make them eligible for the public offering of insurance.  Do we believe the amnesty bill will happen (thus covering the aliens) and the government will not “bail out” the poor?

The Senator has helped to make his case, so we will let him tell you in his own words, what he is has been thinking and doing recently.  In the following video, Senator Schumer declares the American People don’t really care about the pork projects in the stimulus.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEfICUoWKBw

Pork Projects definition: Funding created by a legislature for projects that are not essential but are sought because they pump money and resources into the local districts of the legislators.

When he made that speech what were some of the Pork Projects he was referring to in the stimulus that the “American public would not care about”?

Questionable or Non-Stimulative Spending:

  • $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts Editorial Note: These are the people who have made all the posters and artwork promoting the President’s healthcare project,  and other items on his agenda. All of the American taxpayers have paid for this propaganda material
  • $2 billion for the Neighborhood Stabilization Fund   Editorial Note:  providing funds to organizations such as ACORN, which  as been accused of practicing unlawful voter registration in recent elections and encouraging citizens on other illegal activities
  • $300 million for the Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program  Editorial Note: There is nothing about this that creates jobs, only continues to give away taxpayer dollars that we do not have
  • $2 billion to support the manufacturing of advanced vehicle batteries Editorial Note: These were stipulated to be in the form of grants
  • $1 billion for Community Development Block Grants
  • $198 million to authorize payments to certain Filipino veterans from WWII  Editorial Note: most of them do not live in this country
  • $300 million for federal procurement of plug-in and fuel efficient vehicles Editorial Note:  This is definitely not feasible for states with large land masses where cities are widespread across vast geographic areas.
  • $8 billion for a High Speed Passenger Rail Program, after the House did not include any funding for the program and the Senate included $2 billion, which will fund at least one project from Las Vegas to Los Angeles
  • $15 million for historic preservation at historically black colleges and universities
  • $170 million for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to research the causes, effects, and ways to mitigate climate change
  • $200 million for Americorps and other paid “volunteerism” programs   Editorial Note: Volunteer means no money, and there should be no government interference
  • $400 million for NASA to accelerate climate research missions
  • $5.5 billion for federal buildings (GSA), including $4.5 billion to convert federal buildings into “high-performance green buildings” and $450 million for a new headquarters for the Department of Homeland Security
  • $210 million for a new grant program to modify and upgrade local fire stations  Editorial Note: Why can’t individual states or communities address these needs, as they are specific to areas?
  • $25 million for the Smithsonian Institution for maintenance backlogs
  • $650 million for Digital-to-Analog Converter Box Coupons Editiorial note: Doe the government assume there is a “right for every American” to have a television?

These items make it a certainty that future generations will be paying for the money used by special interest groups.

Here is a video clip where Senator Schumer is justifying the money spent by the government on “good nationalization” of the banks.  This is a very few months after the largest stimulus bill in history was passed by the House.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMuqjr1fbN0

What about our rights?  In the debate over what to pass for Healthcare Reform, they are trampling all over the rights of individuals.  It is our right to choose the best healthplan option for us.  It is our right if we do not want insurance.  We the people have the right to tell them what we want.  The government does not have the right to nationalize the banks in any of the defined framework given in the Constitution or the Declaration.   The government does not have the right to determine where billions of  dollars of our money should go as outlined by the constitution.  This is the same Senator who is fighting to get a “fairness” doctrine in place that will curtail our Freedom of speec, a right given to the people in the Constitution.

Senator Schumer, because you have forgotten who you are working for and also forgotten our Constitutional rights, it is time to go!

A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned – this is the sum of good government.
Thomas Jefferson

#9 Representative Charles Rangel, It is time to go!

Posted on October 8, 2009. Filed under: Activism, Politics | Tags: , , , , |

 charles rangel

Representative Charles Rangel (Dem) was first elected in 1970.  He is up for re-election in 2010.

He is currently the Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, one of the most powerful committees in the House. The job of that committee is to oversee the IRS and the Federal tax code.  Representative Rangel has evaded taxes for over a decade and yet pays none of the penalties and interest charges the IRS piles on the average taxpayer for far less serious offenses.

For 16 months he has been investigated on charges of multiple tax, errors in federal disclosure, and ethics violation charges.  Most recently, in August 2009 Representative Rangel made new confessions of failure to report nearly a million dollars in assets on federal disclosure forms.  The investigation began in July 2008 and has already been expanded twice  – before the latest revelations. .  The Democratic majority appears to have a difficulty with understanding ethics applies to all parties, as they have voted to have him stay in this position until the investigation is over.  How many more “ethical” decisions will this man be making in his role of oversight of the IRS and Federal tax code in the coming months?  What does the decision by the majority of the House to overlook this, say about their own ability to be ethical and honest?

This whole situation illustrates there is a double standard alive and well in the House.  One standard is for the powerful and rich, and one for the average American.  This is an absolute disgrace that the Representative has been permitted to stay as head of this powerful committee dealing with the very laws he has broken.

I refer you to a letter dated  May 24, 2006 by the Minority Leader at that time, Nancy Pelosi  “cited “high ethical standards” in a letter to Representative William Jefferson asking that he resign his seat on the Committee on Ways and Means in light of ongoing investigations into alleged financial impropriety by Representative Jefferson.

Editorial Note: Minority Leader Pelosi did the right and appropriate action is asking Representative Jefferson to resign the seat on the Committee in light of the investigations.  Why did she not instruct Representative Rangel to do the same thing?

In closing, I’d like to share an excerpt from a speech given in February 2008 by Representative Rangel in his role as Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee:

“Our massive trade deficit reflects years of a passive, misguided trade policy by the Bush Administration. Too often, our trading partners are allowed to break international rules, to keep U.S. exports out of their markets, and to engage in unfair trade practices. We need a more assertive approach to the enforcement of our international agreements and trade laws”.

What do we learn from this speech?  Chairman Rangel expects lawbreakers to be brought in line via assertive enforcement.  Apparently this philosophy does not apply to him.

There are dozens of other examples where Representative Rangel has chosen to disregard the rule of law and the principles of the Constitution.  It is pointless to waste time acknowledging or delving into those – as there is no need.  He has broken the law repeatedly in a premeditated manner over a decade.  Several infractions have been admitted by Representative Rangel.  If it were any one of the general population that had committed this type of offense, there would be many penalties and dire consequences to face.

There is no question Representative Rangel, We the people ask you to leave now for the good of the country.

“Our government…teaches the whole people by its example.  If the government becomes the lawbreaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy.”

Louis D. Brandeis, Supreme Court Justice (1856 to 1941)

#8 Senator John McCain III, It is time to go!

Posted on October 8, 2009. Filed under: Activism, Politics | Tags: , , , , |

John McCain

Senator John McCain was first elected to office in 1986.

He is up for re-election in 2010. Let me preface this finding with an acknowledgement of the conflict many people will find (including myself) surrounding the topic of Senator John McCain.  Everyone in America appreciates his service in the military and the price he paid for all of us.  This goes without saying.  I, like many others fully support and respect the men and women who have courageously served their country.  That being said, we should not allow our bias of support for the men and women who have served in the military to interfere with our views on how is he performing in the Senate.  These are two entirely separate topics.

Senator McCain is usually one of the first to offer compromise on major bills before the House.  It has been difficult for him to “stand his ground” on behalf of the American people and the Constitution.  Furthermore his principles/values/beliefs fluctuate on a regular basis as he attempts to “compromise” with his peers in the House.  What follows are some examples of poor judgment, and the various impacts to Americans by those decisions.

Voted YES on the Second Economic package – 10/2008  – HR1424

Vote to pass a bill that allows the Secretary of the Treasury to purchase troubled assets from financial institutions, with a total outstanding balance of up to $700 billion, and also provides tax incentives for alternative energies and contains income tax and alternative minimum tax provisions.

Editorial Note:  Did we see any charges brought against the institutions that “promoted” the bad mortgages and made billions in profits at the expense of the mortgage holders?  Now we want to give the same mismanaged institutions money when they are clearly suffering the consequences of bad business decisions?   People and institutions will learn (just as children do) when they suffer consequences for their actions.

Voted YES on the First Economic Package – 02/2008 – HR5140

This bill provides economic stimulus through recovery rebates to individuals, incentives for business investment, and an increase in conforming and FHA loan limits.

Editorial Note:  In this bill was the following verbage:  “- Increases the limits on the maximum original principal obligation of mortgages for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and for the Federal Housing Administration (Sec. 201, 202)”.

Here is an extract from Senator McCain’s comment on the First Economic Package that they were about to vote upon:

“The bill pending before the Senate–a compromise product between the House and the President–is not perfect. Certainly we can all agree on the important yet limited improvements I mentioned such as ensuring our senior citizens and disabled veterans are not left out of this stimulus package. While perhaps none of us will be fully satisfied with the final measure, we simply cannot afford to include every member’s wish list in this package. I believe the measure we will send to the President is one that almost all of us can and will support”.

Editorial Note:  No one in the House or Senate should “compromise” when there are such wide sweeping constitutional implications to the American public.  Earlier in his speech Senator McCain said the compromises were necessary to ensure the disabled veterans and seniors were included in the tax relief.  So, we pass legislation based on “deals” between the parties.

The two packages listed above helped Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to get deeper in trouble, made temporary tax cuts, put us deeper into debt, and did nothing to curtail the spending in the House.

Here is an excerpt from a speech on the Senate Floor by Senator McCain:  “I know these words will fall on deaf ears, but it is certainly not responsible for House to continue to load up appropriations bills–and, yes, authorization bills–with wasteful and unnecessary spending. Americans all over the country are hurting. People are losing jobs, their savings and their homes. Yet we continue the disgraceful earmarking process, elevating parochialism and patronage politics over the true needs and welfare of our men and women in uniform and the taxpayers”.

Editorial note: Although he said the above in a speech on the Senate Floor, he has voted for several bills that included earmarks just to be able to get the main bill through on the vote.

Senator John Sidney McCain, III repeatedly refused to provide any responses to citizens on the issues through the 2008 Political Courage Test when asked to do so by national leaders of the political parties, prominent members of the media, Project Vote Smart President Richard Kimball, and Project Vote Smart staff. What is the political courage test? The Political Courage Test asks candidates which items they will support if elected. It does not ask them to indicate which items they will oppose. Through extensive research of public polling data, it was discovered that voters are more concerned with what candidates would support when elected to office, not what they oppose. If a candidate does not select a response to any part or all of any question, it does not necessarily indicate that the candidate is opposed to that particular item.   The majority of the Presidential Candidates, Senatorial, and House candidates have filled out this brief form for the public to review.

Editorial Note:  Why would a candidate be against transparency?

The Constitution and the Declaration were very clear on the rights given to the people and the government.  There shouldn’t be any “compromise” on the issues at the expense of any of those individual rights.  Senator McCain, it is time for you to go.

#6 Senator Chris Dodd it is time to leave!

Posted on October 5, 2009. Filed under: Activism, Politics | Tags: , , , , |

Chris DoddSenator Chris Dodd (Dem) was first elected in 1980.  He will be up for re-election in 2010.

Looking at Healthcare, Senator Dodd has some radical ideas.  First he wants to force a government run system on the people.  Even worse, he is for the illegal aliens and all their children to be covered by the plan.  His theory is it will prevent the American population from catching things from them, and after all – they will pay.  In the healthcare plan, and in all the speeches it has been stated the premiums set for individuals and families based on their ability to pay.  In other words, the poor would pay very little and be subsidized (so to speak) by the people who are able to pay more.  Let’s say you have 50M illegal aliens, how much do you think the rest of working America will have to pay to make up the difference?

What is it that is so difficult for Senator Dodd to understand about the word illegal?  He appears reluctant or unwilling at best to address what they are going to do about enforcing the law.  This is criminal for a United States Senator to speak of “taking care” of all the millions of illegal aliens at the expense of the people who pay his paycheck.

This is a quote from the Senator:  “I’ve got a five-year-old and a two-year-old and one has a strep throat and the other has an infection of adenoids. But it’s important to know what families go through who have young children. I’m a US Senator. I’ve got a wonderful health care program. I want every single American in this country to have as good a health care program as every member of the US Congress. That ought to be something we’re going to stand there and fight for”.  Everyone applauds this concept.  Isn’t it strange that the Senate will not be participating in this government run program?  They will keep their benefits, and we will have something separate.  If it is so wonderful, why doesn’t he take it for his family?  Why doesn’t he propose the entire Senate be on the plan?

Voted YES on allowing patients to sue HMOs & collect punitive damages.

Vote to provide federal protections, such as access to specialty and emergency room care, and allow patients to sue health insurers in state and federal courts. Economic damages would not be capped, and punitive damages would be capped at $5 million.  Editorial Note:  This type of “sue mentality” without any caps is what has driven the insurance rates so high.  Senator Dodd has contributed to our rates being high, by voting yes on this bill.  Lawsuits cost everyone.

Voted NO on an amendment prohibiting minors crossing state lines for abortion

All I can say is the thought of a teenager sneaking across state lines for abortion (probably without parental knowledge) is a horrible thought.  How could he possibly justify allowing minors the right to cross state lines for abortions?

Voted NO on criminal penalty for harming unborn fetus during other crime. (Mar 2004)

How could anyone say a crime had not been committed when an unborn fetus is harmed during the commission of a crime?  This is unbelievable!

Remember the hedge fund managers that have caused such turmoil with the market and investors over the last few years?

The Stanford Advocate (paper in his hometown), reported that Senator Dodd, the Senate Banking Committee chairman has stated his reluctance to hike taxes on hedge fund profits.  He led in political contributions (when he ran for President), $726,950, from the booming investment sector. The tax code allows hedge fund executives to pay capital gains taxes at 15% instead of paying the personal income tax rate at 35%.” Senator Dodd raised campaign money from these hedgefund managers, and then the legislation which would raise their tax rate got killed afterwards.  Does anyone believe this was a coincidence?  The hedgefund managers had a huge part in the economic upheaval on Wall Street over the past several years.

Voted NO on Balanced-budget constitutional amendment. (Mar 1997)

Don’t we all want the government to have constraints legally that bind them to doing the right thing and balancing the budget?  Shouldn’t a United States Senator that represents America be fiscally responsible?  Why would he not vote to have a balanced budget?  As Americans, do we have to balance our checkbooks?  Can we spend unchecked without any consequences?

Senator Dodd admitted to adding a loophole in the Stimulus package that would allow AIG executives to get bonuses

He admits to adding the loophole so the amendment would pass!  Is this kind of “deal making” in the best interest of the country?

See link below:

Voted YES on allowing illegal aliens to participate in Social Security. (May 2006)

How does it feel to have worked all your life in America and have to share your pension with the illegals?  This is something Senator Dodd thinks is “ok”.

And as if that weren’t enough, take a look at this:  Last year, Congress overwhelmingly passed bipartisan legislation granting immunity to telecommunications companies that have cooperated with federal authorities’ anti-terrorism efforts.  Senator Chris Dodd, the extremely vulnerable incumbent Democrat, has re-introduced legislation to open those telecom firms to civil and criminal lawsuits.  So we vote to grant immunity to gain help last year on anti-terrorism and now he wants to penalize them for helping us.

This man hasn’t exhibited common sense, or morals.  Otherwise how could he possibly stand for the items listed above?  There are dozens of other equally bad choices this Senator has made in his career representing the people.  Senator Dodd is not serving the American people.  It is time for the Senator to go.  We the people deserve better.
