Drones, Texas, and Property Owner Rights

Posted on April 1, 2013. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , , , |

We have seen and heard a lot of advertising through the years in Texas, that the Texans for Lawsuit Reform Group is a conservative organization.  There are certain new developments that raise questions among the most trusting of individuals in Texas.

A bill is pending in the Texas House (HB 912) that would prohibit the use of drones to take pictures of individuals’ property without their consent.  HB912 is an important piece of legislation to protect the privacy rights of Texans and has over 100 co-authors. Unfortunately, the special interest group “Texans For Lawsuit Reform” is actively lobbying against this bill because it includes necessary civil penalties.

When laws are made, they serve two purposes.  The laws provide boundaries for appropriate actions in society, and civil and criminal consequences if one disobeys those laws.  For something as serious as a drone being used without consent to surveil innocent property owners, I would think the public would want as many deterrants to that activity as possible.  A child will not hesitate to tempt his boundaries if there are no penalties or consequences.   Do we simply trust everyone has good intentions and hope for the best?

TLR hired an Austin Law Firm to give testimony to the legislative committee arguing against the bill which will protect property owners.  This is yet another item to add to the list of:  Is this a Conservative action?

Below, there is a letter from the President of TLR “explaining” why they believe the property owners should not have protection under the law

TLR drone letter

Please reach out and speak with your legislator today.  Don’t let this special interest group override the rights of Texans for remedies under the law.

Texas Legislature Not Adhering to Fiscal Responsibility Advice

Posted on April 25, 2011. Filed under: Politics, Texas, Texas | Tags: , , , , , |

Where does the budget process in Texas stand at this time?  The Texas House passed a budget with various cuts, and  identified a need for using 3.1B of the Rainy Day Fund.  This proposal then went to the Senate. The Senate has their own budget proposal.  It spends 12B more than the House Proposal.  This budget process is going to end up in conference.

When the House and Senate offer two different solutions to the same bill, the legislation then moves to a committee made up of some members of the House and Senate.  Their job is to negotiate a solution which satisfies the legislature as a final solution.  In this instance, there will be debates about where to cut money and how much.

Mr. Talmadge Heflin, of the Texas Public Policy Foundation identified 3 priorities for the legislature with regard to the budget for the next biennium.  Go to this site for more info on the House and Senate budgets: http://www.texaspolicy.com/legislativeupdates_single.php?report_id=3719

There are 3 things that lead to logical solutions on the budget.

  1. Make the necessary cuts
  2. Don’t raise taxes
  3. Don’t use the Rainy Day Fund

The Senate chose to disregard the advice of economists, experts, the Governor and the people of Texas.  They have elected to spend more money when they are fully aware of the unfunded mandates the state is facing in 2013.  New sources of money were used by the Senate to help pay for some of their programs, but it does not solve the future problem.

Before Texas gets into dire straits, there must be austerity measures taken in the state.   In the past year, Americans have witnessed many states teetering on the verge of bankruptcy trying to make quick fixes.   Several states have bond ratings now in jeopardy of a downgrade, due to excessive spending.  Is this what we want for Texas?

Please call your legislators and state clearly the need for fiscal restraint prior to the emergency!  Let’s show the rest of the country how it’s done.

As a final thought of what to say to the legislators:   We pay you to be smart and do the very best for the citizens that elected you to office.   Show  you have the integrity and character to do what is best for Texans.

  1. Get rid of duplicity across departments
  2. Freeze all discretionary spending for two years
  3. Freeze hiring in all departments of the state for two years.

America Now Taking Orders From Arab League

Posted on March 28, 2011. Filed under: government, Middle East, Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , , |

The President had his two cabinet secretaries out on the media circuit this weekend, trying to give a positive spin on military action he decided to take in Libya.  The result was more than underwhelming.  It was a moment of clarity as the two people, Secretary Clinton, and Secretary Gates became a bit rattled under pressure.

What did we learn?  The US will not engage unless a lot of other people say we need to do it.  Secretary Clinton’s answer says it all.  The spin from the President that we cannot stand by while innocent people are killed is a complete farce.  In Secretary Clinton’s answer below, she explains how the US “picks” who to save on humanitarian grounds.

On March 1, the Senate passed a resolution on the no-fly zone.  In Secretary Clinton’s answer she refuses to state that Speaker Boehner was against it.  Odd, that they had over two weeks, and couldn’t get it heard and voted on by the House. It was clear from her answers that she was unable to say Congress supported this effort.  Look at the choice of words.

So, the President’s own people have some difficulty explaining what is happening…

Quotes from Face the Nation transcript:

Bill Scheiffer Madam Secretary, let me start with you. Tens of thousands of people have turned out protesting in Syria, which has been under the iron grip of the– the Assad for so many years now. One of the most repressive regimes in the world, I suppose. And when the demonstrators turned out, the regime opened fire and killed a number of civilians. Can we expect the United States to enter that conflict in the way we have entered the conflict in Libya?

HILLARY CLINTON (Secretary of State): No. Each of these situations is unique, Bob. Certainly, we deplore the violence in Syria. We call, as we have on all of these governments during this period of the Arab awakening, as some have called it, to be responding to their people’s needs, not to engage in violence, permit peaceful protest and begin a process of economic and political reform. The situation in Libya, which engendered so much concern from around the international community had a leader who used military force against the protestors from one end of his country to the other, who publicly said things like, we’ll show no mercy. We’ll go house to house. And the international community moved with great speed in part because there’s a history here. This is someone who has behaved in a way that caused grave concern in the past forty-plus years in the Arab world, the African world, Europe and the United States.

BOB SCHIEFFER: But I mean– how can that be worse than what has happened in Syria over the years, where Bashar Assad’s father killed twenty-five thousand people at– at a lick. I mean, they opened fire with live ammunition on these civilians. Why is that different from Libya?  This is a friend of Iran, an enemy of Israel.

HILLARY CLINTON: Well, if there were a coalition of the international community, if there were the passage of a Security Council resolution, if there were a call by the Arab League, if there was a condemnation that was universal but that is not going to happen because I don’t think that it’s yet clear what will occur, what will unfold. There is a different leader in Syria now. Many of the members of Congress of both parties who have gone to Syria in recent months have said they believe he’s a reformer. What’s been happening there the last few weeks is– is deeply concerning. But there’s a difference between calling out aircraft and indiscriminately strafing and bombing your own cities, then police actions, which frankly have exceeded the use of force that any of us would want to see.

End of the transcript from Face the Nation.

So, we are now acting in concert with many countries because of what we “think” someone may do.  After the military efforts began, and the President asked Gadhaffi to go, the Arab League said this is a legitimate government and to not interfere.  This was a byline on the BBC one night after the military exercise began by the various countries.

On Meet the Press, more troubling statements were made by both Secretaries, that indicate the US has been heavily involved in conversations with rebels in most of the middle eastern countries.

Quotes from Meet the Press Transcript:

SECRETARY ROBERT GATES: I think that the no-fly zone aspect of the mission has been accomplished. We have not seen any of his planes fly since the mission started. We have suppressed his air defenses. I think we’ve also been successful on the humanitarian side. We have prevented his forces from going to Benghazi , and we have taken out a good bit of his armor. So I think we have, to a very large extent, completed the military mission in terms of getting it set up. Now, the no-fly zone and even the humanitarian side will have to be sustained for some period of time.

SECRETARY CLINTON: Well, I think it’s perfectly legitimate for members of Congress and the public to ask questions. The president’s going to address the nation Monday night. A lot of these questions will be answered. But, but I would just make a couple of points. First, on March 1 the United States Senate passed a resolution calling for a no-fly zone. That was a bipartisan resolution. There were a number of people in the House , including leadership in both the Republican and Democratic Parties , who were demanding that action be taken. The international community came together; and, in an unprecedented action, the Arab League called on the Security Council to do exactly what the Security Council ended up doing. Now, the United States and other countries were in a position to be able to act to enforce it. If you look at the coverage on Al Jazeera , if you listen to the statements that are being put out by the opposition in Libya , there is a great deal of appreciation for what we and others have done in order to stop Gadhafi on his mission of merciless oppression. So this was an international effort that the United States was a part of. I certainly believe it was within the president’s constitutional authority to do so. It is going according to the plan that the president laid out. The United States will be transitioning to a NATO command and control .

MR. GREGORY: Did Speaker Boehner raise any objections when he was briefed prior to the mission ?

SECRETARY CLINTON: Well, I know that there was a constant flow of information, both to members and staff. And, of course , the president had a, a conference with some members in person , others, many others, including the speaker on the phone. But we have no objection to anybody asking questions. But I think it’s important to look at the context in which this is occurring. And the fact that we have moved so rapidly to have this kind of international action taken answers in great measure the legitimate concerns of the people of Libya . And now, of course, we’re going to take it day by day . That’s what you do in a situation like this.

End of Quotes from Meet the Press Transcript

America has never witnessed so much unrest in the Middle East.  Secretary Clinton and Secretary Gates have acknowledged in many press briefings that our country has been engaged in a lot of conversation with rebels throughout the Middle East.  Now we have unrest in almost all of the middle eastern nations as rebels protest against their governments.  In the press briefings previously at the White House, it was stated that we are encouraging economic and political reform.   Our country is broke.  We have people at the highest levels involved in redistribution of wealth on a grand scale.  Government processes are ignored on a regular basis.   It is time for creative thought as to how to impede the progress of the liberals until 2012.  These riots in the Middle East are occuring because the flames of discontent have been fanned by people with agendas.

Since the general civilization of mankind, I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpation”  James Madison

House Votes and Reveals Achilles Heel

Posted on March 16, 2011. Filed under: Conservative, government, Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

Yesterday, the House of Representatives voted another stop gap bill to fund the government for 3 more weeks.  They cut a few more billion of spending, and thought this would pass the Senate as well.  This is a time when the government needs several things from Congress.  They need to fund the government through September.  This situation has occurred because Democrats were unwilling to pass a budget last year when it should have been done.

The second thing the Government wants, is to raise the debt ceiling.  A lot of chat shows have focused on liberal angst  including that of the President.  The President and liberals were speaking about “dire” consequences if the debt ceiling is not raised. EWWW, I am shaking in my boots that the commander in chief is trying to scare us again.  Remember how they tried to convince us of the “emergency” on healthcare??  Nothing has happened.  The world didn’t come to an end because it is not implemented yet.  Neither the President nor Harry Reid are willing to “negotiate” per the Republican leadership.  For some reason the refusal by those two parties to negotiate has disturbed the Conservatives.

Do we care?  I say we should not care when people who have shown little regard for the Constitution or the people can’t play well with others.  We have known from childhood that leopards do not change their spots.

Realizing the Conservatives can’t negotiate with themselves, as that would be foolish….what about a completely different approach?  What if we decided the people’s demands in exchange for extending the government funding?  Think of 3-4 major spending cuts and attach it to the bill.  If they vote against it, the liberals must not really have a fear of the government shutting down.  At that point, the Conservatives need to loudly talk about this, everywhere possible.  Use a page from the liberal book!  I am certain there have been more serious threats to Congress than we have been privy to in the public.  However, we must stand strong, if we have any hope of preventing the further takeover by the government.

Now is the time to use what the liberals want, and get some conservative tactics accomplished.  Conservatives have leverage now and appear to be unwilling to “tangle” with the  President or the Liberals.

What was most amazing today during the vote, is that 54 Conservatives stood strong and voted no to a bill that satisfies the whims of the liberals and doesn’t do much for the people.  Please see the list below of conservatives that stood strong and voted against extending government funding for 3 weeks with no real cuts!

Now we have a plan, my fellow patriots.  First we need to call our Representatives and Senators in Washington.  The people who are unwilling to make the hard choices, have become an achilles heel to the effort.   Make it clear, they better band together and use leverage while they have it.  ALL non-critical funding must be cut, as the country is broke.  As a taxpayer, I am offended we are giving money to a multitude of United Nations efforts when we are unable to care for our own people.  I am offended that we continue to give foreign aide by the billions to countries that hate us.  No union, or community action group should get any money.  I, the taxpayer refuse to give hundreds of thousands to study frogs.  They will definitely get the idea.

The second part of the plan involves reaching out to the 54 courageous people who voted no yesterday in the House.  We should ask them what we can do to help.  Do they have ideas?  At a minimum. we need to thank them for standing up for what is right and for the American People.  The list of 54 is below.

A Realistic Look at Budgets and other Possibilities

Posted on March 7, 2011. Filed under: Conservative, Economy, government, Politics | Tags: , , , , |

February 2009, the budget was delivered to Congress by the Administration. Democrats rammed it through without time for either party to read or think about much of any of it.  There wasn’t a budget passed at all in 2010 for the 2011 expenditures.  The Democrats and the President hung together on budget issues as they did on everything else, passing individual spending bills for funding of various departments and programs, so the public would be less aware of the exorbitant spending.

The Federal Budget year ends at the end of September.  The “budget” proposals for 2012 were not delivered until recently after the passing of Healthcare legislation, and a horrendous Lame Duck Session.  The new Congress was sworn in,  and the House proceeded to repeal Obamacare after a lot of committee hearings to hear all sides from both Democrats and Republicans.  It was transparent, and provided a lot more information about the parts of the bill likely to kill jobs, companies, and people.  They moved on quickly to the task of spending cuts for 2011.  A budget was not proposed at all for 2011, Congress has simply continued to spend by passing individual spending bills.   This is a first step in cuts.  If you want more cuts, it will take a lot longer to peruse the complicated thousands of pages with a lot of entries already partially spent.  Because time was of the essence due to this fiscal year being half over, they focused on programs that killed jobs or were causing companies problems creating jobs. This resulted in a significant list of terminated programs.  Bear in mind, they must move rapidly to cuts on the 2012 proposed budget.

Okay, so now the House has cut 61 Billion of current spending.  A lot of people thought it should be more.  The House stated this is the first step, and no one seems to want to hear it.  It has been two weeks since that passed, and Senator Harry Reid is adamant that this bill will not be passed in the Senate in the current form.  For those of you who are unaware, there is a heated battle going on between Senator Harry Reid and Speaker John Boehner regarding the budget and cuts to spending. The House is choosing to move forward with more cuts and repeals.  The House is ignoring the tireades of Senator Reid for the most part.

It is already March, and almost too late to stop the massive amounts of money already “distributed” to worldwide sources as well as domestic sources this year.  The Senate adopted a stance of doing almost anything rather than addressing the current proposed cuts by the House. The House has moved on to the next set of cost cutting measures.  They passed the repeal of the 1099 requirement for small businesses buried in the Healthcare Reform bill.  A good point to make at this juncture is that funding for the Healthcare Reform Law was a line item inside that bill and was approved when the bill was signed into law by the President.  A report was issued by the Congressional Research Service in October 2010 that itemized the “pre-approved” appropriations that were inside the Obamacare bill.

To further keep the public off balance, the Administration released the proposed 2012 budget for the Congress to study, make modifications and pass quickly prior to the beginning of the fiscal year on October 1, 2011.  This is a compilation of committee recommendations, Presidential recommendations, and thousands of pages of supporting documentation.

The President chose now to make a big issue out of the Defense of Marriage Act.  This is a red herring folks.  He knew the Conservatives would be upset and it would be hard for them to ignore the screams of anxious Conservative constituents.  While there were a few speeches on the House floor about it, Speaker Boehner, and the Majority Leader Eric Cantor kept the house focused on the repeal of the additional 1099 requirements for small businesses.  In blogs across the country, rhetoric and venom aimed at the GOP reached a deafening crescendo as people wanted them to drop everything and take action on the latest debacle by the Administration.

While the red herrings continue at a brisk pace, the Secretary of State has given testimoney to several Congressional Committees.  Most of these recorded hearings were televised in the middle of the night.  She has requested money be sent for aide to the Libyan refugees that escaped to Tunisia.  Senator Reid has already stated they are working on it.  The House has stated it is not going to happen.

The bulk of my point is the progressives are still held together by Senator Reid and the Administration.  They do not break rank unless he says ok.  Senator Reid has the ability to prevent anything being heard on the floor.  In the House, there are some Democrats beginning to vote more moderately.  No matter what the House passes, there is very little chance Senator Reid will permit the Senate to pass anything completed by the House.  If a bill is permitted to the floor, thus far the Senator has ensured all progressives vote against the bill in question.

What can we do to take back control?  Let’s take a page out of the Liberal playbook for a change.  These people have a goal of completely changing the country.  IF you will notice, liberal bloggers have not criticized one action or timeline of events with their representatives in Congress.  They didn’t demonize any of the Progressive leaders during the Healthcare debates even though some of them were against it.  Most of them are promoting what a great job they are doing, and how the evil Republicans are causing trouble.  The progressives know how to stick together for a common goal. Note that the progressive constituents continue to “influence” the people via rallies, blogs, facebook, and twitter with positive messaging about their social agenda.  Perhaps the conservatives should examine what they want as a goal.  My personal goal is fiscal responsibility and a more limited government.  Because these are my goals, I blog, twitter, and communicate my ideas and questions on a regular basis with regard to furthering “my agenda”.  It has taken the progressives years to put everything into place and will take us several years and all of us working together to put things right in our country.

I don’t wine, dine, or personally hobnob with anyone in Washington.  However, over the past few years I have called with suggestions and questions to various offices.  They now know who I am and take my calls and letters on a regular basis.  A dialogue needs to be encouraged that doesn’t bash, or cajole, but reaches out to see if we can better understand decisions, and help wherever possible.  Several of my friends have made suggestions on the America speaks website that was put up prior to the elections by John Boehner, who was a representative at that time, and not a speaker.  Two of my friends got callbacks with further questions.   Here is that website: http://www.americaspeakingout.com/

Watch for my next blog.  I will be outlining some suggested things we can proactively do to help with the economic problem and ensure we win in 2012.  Our work has just begun!

Do you know what Speaker Boehner and the House have accomplished?

Posted on March 7, 2011. Filed under: Activism, Conservative, government, Politics | Tags: , , , , |

For over two years now, I have watched every session of the House and Senate.  It should probably be entitled: “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”.  However, a new day has come.  Although America did not win the Senate, we did win the House by some of the most significant numbers since the Great Depression.

I have watched and waited.  Each moment of frustration, anger, determination, and valor was exhibited by Conservatives for the world to see on the floor of the Congress.  How many people in America would never be aware of how these remarkable individuals were brow beaten, taunted, and excluded by the Majority (Liberal) party?  The media certainly didn’t cover it.  I’ve tried my best to reach out on numerous blogs to make people aware of the literal transformation on the floor of the House.  It was clear to see the “light bulb” was going off for many of them, just as it had for the Tea Party.  They recognized how close we were to changing our country forever.

Stepping up the pace, I began to give speeches about what was being witnessed, so that others might know about the positive changes that were occurring.  As the frequency of speeches requested increased, the hecklers and infiltrators at these gatherings increased as well.  People were making fun of Speaker Boehner and stating clearly Congress was doing nothing.  I knew this to be lies, because of the dedicated time for over two years to the research effort.

Did you know that George Washington wept when contemplating the battle facing he and his men in surviving the harsh wintry weather at Valley Forge?  We have had many leaders who had greatness thrust upon them, and they were overcome with momentary emotion as they began their journey.  Is there doubt in any patriot’s mind at the magnitude of the task and the importance of getting our country back, before it’s too late?  I might have shed a tear or two as well, had this quest been placed upon my shoulders.  Speaker Boehner, like so many leaders in our past, is humbled by the whole experience.  Some of the finest leaders our country has ever known, have exhibited the same emotion over the honor.  He does not deserve the wrath of the conservatives in this country, but rather our support.

If you go to the majority leader’s website, the entire list of programs they have terminated, and the summary of all budget cuts is there:  http://www.majorityleader.gov/YouCut/  The first pass at cuts was to focus on elimination of any job killing programs, or obvious waste.  It is not an easy task.  I challenged myself recently to try and unravel very complicated Federal Budgets.  The fact that they are this complicated is an instant red flag to me.

The budgets are not all the House accomplished.  There is much more.  Go to the Republican Study Commitee website to get a better view of what they have done to date:  http://rsc.jordan.house.gov/default.aspx

In conclusion, perhaps we should all consider the tasks of the American people.  To prevent the further transformation of our beloved country, it is imperative to take the Senate back and the White House.  These need to be filled with as many conservatives as possible.  The unfortunate part of the next two years is all the good work of the House will likely be minimized due to the blocking of everything by the Senate with the liberal majority.

As good conservatives, what do you think the impact will be if we continue to slam the conservatives in the blogs and speeches for every move they make?  Do you think these actions could possibly persuade voters (or new people in the patriot movement) to change their vote?  If we whine and moan, without giving any facts….we the people are sabotaging our possibility of winning in 2012.  Think about it.  Do you want to be part of the effort to save the country?  OR, would you rather help the liberals completely rob us of our liberty?  The choice is up to each of us.

The President, Oil and Gas, and America

Posted on February 24, 2011. Filed under: Activism, Conservative, government, Politics | Tags: , , , |

President Barack Obama continues to hurt oil and gas industry by eliminating oil & gas incentives and preferences with a fiscal 2012 federal budget request increasing direct taxes on industry by an estimated $3.472 billion next year and $43.612 billion over 10 years. US producers and refineries operating internationally would pay an additional $532 million in fiscal 2012 and $10.758 billion during 2012-21 under modified rules for dual-capacity taxpayers under the foreign tax credit.

There is a wave of instability engulfing the Middle Eastern Countries.  America buys much of their oil and gas from these countries.  So, let me get this straight….  We have a President crippling the oil and gas production in our country at a time when our other sources may be soon “off-limit”?

There is no other way to interpret the increasing anti-American  methods used by this President to dismantle America and “transform” it to a leftist third world country.  He and all of his henchmen should be found guilty of treason on many counts.  For one thing, each time Congress stops them, they turn to the EPA and the Department of Justice to ignore the Congressional mandates. These two government groups have become the henchmen for this Administration.  The second reason they are guilty of treason is that they are picking and choosing which laws to enforce and which laws they declare unconstitutional without any verdict by the courts.  The third and most important reason is that the President involves himself on a regular  basis in matters that are not the purvue of the President of the United States.  We have seen everything from a beer summit which interfered with local authorities, to many secret meetings with union officials.

And lest we forget, for whatever reason, this President has refused to show a birth certificate.  In my mind, the most significant part of this action, is that he has defied what has been required for every President – proof of natural citizenshp.  Why should he be allowed to defy the Constitutional laws of this country?

If anyone doubts the peril this country is in, please have a look at a few of the headlines in the Wall Street Journal or the Telegraph News Paper in London.  There have been hundreds of  reports about this President and his administration ignoring the laws of the land and blazing new leftist trails using their own people such as the EPA, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, and the Department of Justice.  These people have picked up the pace and it is increasingly difficult to keep up with all of the regulations and stripping away of laws that they are doing.  There are over 157,000 regulations in this country now.  The Departments, like EPA, have been given authority by the President to make regulations that are binding for the public.  These are non-elected officials who are making law.  Congress makes laws.  This is a direct violation of our American system of law.

What to do?  It is imperative we place more conservatives in the House, the Senate, and in the White House in 2012.  By this, I mean no Marxists, no Socialists, and no experimental third party.  The left is moving fast.  Conservatives need to unite and stay focused.  Watch for divisive efforts by the left.  Question everything.   America’s future is in our hands.

Our country is in danger, but not to be despaired of. Our enemies are numerous and powerful; but we have many friends, determining to be free, and heaven and earth will aid the resolution. On you depend the fortunes of America. You are to decide the important question, on which rest the happiness and liberty of millions yet unborn. Act worthy of yourselves.

Texas, Liberals, and Truth Twisting in the Wind

Posted on January 11, 2011. Filed under: Conservative, government, Politics | Tags: , , , , , |

The 2010 elections saw many changes in the political landscape of Texas.  Liberals moved en masse to Texas.  This was a dedicated effort to make inroads for the Democrat party in a large conservative state.   Liberal blogs sprang up by the dozens.  Social groups were formed in an effort to influence people to be angry toward their state government.  There was a lot of deception used to change conservatives to a rabble rousing crowd. Speakers appeared all over the state working to convince the public, the liberal choices were the best for them.  Disgruntled losers in the primaries became useful tools for the left.   People in Texas had become both scared and angry by the disregard for fiscal responsibility in Washington and these people and groups played upon those emotions for their own gain.

So, what were some of the most egregious symptoms, and how do we combat these groups?

The tactics first became apparent during the 2010 elections.  Washington was in disarray, there was economic uncertainty, high unemployment, and what did the liberals in Texas say was the priority?  Property taxes!   The Titanic is going down and the liberals managed to get tens of thousands in Texas to believe this was the priority.  Yes, let’s argue about the price of the stateroom as the ship is sinking.  This was far from a joke.  Dozens of articles sprang up all over the state, gatherings were held to ratchet up the people’s passion and to distract them from the work at hand.   Don’t I believe property taxes are horrible?  Yes.   Do I believe they are out of control?  Yes.  However, none of this will matter if the Federal Government takes away all of my rights and I am taxed at a Federal Level which causes an inability to pay for the basics such as food.

After the elections, the subterfuge continued by the liberal left.  There were some interesting additions to the propaganda around the state in the late fall.  The next addition of innuendo indicated Texas was not truthful about their unemployment numbers.  The latest diatribe makes allegations that the debt of Texas is much greater than has been reported to the public.

In an effort to put the latest smear campaign to rest, I have spent time investigating the rumor about the debt.  The time had come to discredit these unworthy assaults on our Texas government.   I found an article that perfectly describes how the numbers were obtained for the correct number and gives more information on our budget.  You can access this information at the Texas Public Policy Foundation. This is a non-partisan foundation that focuses on research created by some of the best minds in the country.    The link is here:  http://www.texaspolicy.com/legislativeupdates_single.php?report_id=3460

The leftist bloggers and organizations have tried to tar the reputations of our State Comptroller and others who are instrumental in the operations of our state government. We must boldly question all efforts by the few to destroy the integrity of our state.  What are they after?  The answer is clearly the Texas voter!

The American people were watching every move made by Congress last week.  It definitely was a rewarding activity, for once.  The Conservatives were prepared and set the tone for what could be expected this year.  Most Republicans are aware this may be a short lived career due to hard decisions that must be made over the next two years.   This did not deter them from hitting the ground running with the business of the people.

What was the most unusual moment?  Having the House members participate in saying the various components of the Constitution was long overdue.  For several years, members of Congress have proposed legislation and deals that would have made the founding fathers shudder with remorse.

What was the best educational moment?  Prior to the reading of the Constitution which was instigated by the Conservatives, the liberals wanted to know exactly what would be read on the House Floor.  The Conservatives explained that many words of the original Constitution were redacted by the Library of Congress when they were in essence, nullified by various amendments.   Most people in the country believe the original Constitution stands as is, and have not factored in the alterations that have occurred via the amendments and precedents set by the Supreme Court.  It was an inspiring event to watch, and most Americans were fervently hoping the participants recognized this event was a sacred honor.

Were the Republicans prepared?  Yes.  On the second day the rules committee hearings began the discussions and testimonies about Obamacare.  Majority Leader Cantor immediately proposed rule changes on the floor and shared the schedule with the Minority Leader, Steny Hoyer.  The organization and planning was evident.

Did the Liberals make any missteps?  Yes.  Ms. Louise Slaughter, former chair of the Rules Committee, suffered a great embarrassment in the public hearing.  Ms. Slaughter’s new position is senior ranking member of the minority on the Rules Committee.  She began by chastising and shouting at the Conservative Committee Chairs that were seated before her.  Her exact words were, “ I am astonished that the three of you sit there, and say the Republicans had not input or activity in the Healthcare Bill.” Ms. Slaughter quoted many hours and meetings that went into the Healthcare Bill.  Further, she said the Democrat Caucus had logged about twice as many hours in the effort.    It appeared Ms. Slaughter was truly upset by the Republicans for having these hearings so soon, much less, at all.  The media was crowded into the room, and everyone was riveted to her words.  The three men tried to answer her questions and make comments, but Ms. Slaughter continued to badger and speak over the top of everyone’s voices.  It was at that moment that something truly remarkable occurred.  Mrs. Virginia Foxx asked for the floor.  She pointed out the statistics cited by Ms. Slaughter pertained to the bill passed by the house.    Ms. Slaughter was misleading people about the facts. One could hear a pin drop in the room.  Mrs. Foxx went on to say that the Conservatives were not permitted amendments or discussion on the Senate Bill that was passed, and it was very different from the House Bill.  Mrs. Foxx had facts and figures at her fingertips, and quite frankly. Ms. Slaughter was made to look a fool.   A round of applause should be given for Mrs. Foxx who can always be counted upon to tell the truth and be prepared.

After all of the proceedings, we also learned the Republicans have a plan to take care of the everpresent Czar problem.  They will be putting legislation forward to fix the problem of non-approved people who bypassed the Senate evaluation process.   One of the concerns about this administration is the number of Czars, their radical views, their power, and the massive amount of money to pay their salaries.  The bill will address the problem.

The Republicans outlined key areas they believe are broken in the Healthcare system.  Their committees are already putting together simple documents proposing each solution.   The legislation from the Conservatives is likely to be brief as the document to repeal Obamacare was only two pages and very easy to understand.   Easy to understand legislation, with no trickery shall be a breath of fresh air.

For the first week, they earned kudos on organization and focus.  It was clear from the tone of the speeches and the content, that these people know the economic fate of the land is in their hands.  I look forward to the coming weeks of legislation as the 112th   The country will be watching as the people’s House is restored to a place of honor and truth.  There are no illusions that many of the people in the House  have been duplicit and corrupt in past years. However, this is a new beginning and if their activities continue with the high standard of the first week,  the American people will be well served.

A government for the people  must depend for its success on the intelligence, the morality, the justice, and the interest of the people themselves.      Grover Cleveland

A Heartfelt Patriot Wish for 2011

Posted on January 1, 2011. Filed under: Conservative, government, Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , , |

United we Stand!

My wish for all of us as we move forward, is that everything is questioned without accepting anything.

Here are some of the questions I had lately:

1.  What was the origin of the Omnibus Spending Bill and when was it put together?

Answer:  The primary 12 committees gave their recommendations for spending with regard to that specific area, early 2010 before the “Omnibus Bill” was pulled together.

2. Why didn’t the individual appropriation requests go through as individual bills?

Answer:  This was a strategic decision by the current House and Senate Leadership (Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid respectively) to put them all together as one bill at the end of the year.  This begs the question of what advantage would this be to the progressives who have actively sought to transform America.

3. Why was all the obvious “pork” added to the Omnibus Bill in spite of the recent election which spoke to the mandate of the American People?  WHO benefited?

Answer:  The media focused on Republicans even though they had less than 1% of the pork in the bill.  The majority of the media was focused on “hypocritical Republicans”.

4.  Did anyone notice the reactions of the liberals when the Omnibus Spending BIll was dropped by Harry Reid?

Answer:  Very little was said by the Progressives as they moved back quickly to the treaty and appropriation discussions.

It is as if they never intended to pass this bill……as if it never happened.

5. What result did the Republicans get with the introduction of this bill and the focus from the media?

Answer:  Teaparties didn’t ask any questions about the why, how, or when of the earmarks.  The Teaparties and patriots quickly jumped to conclusions that the Conservatives had added billions in earmarks after saying they would no longer use earmarks.   The media fanned the flames of hypocritical Conservatives and the Tea Parties  turned on the Conservatives.

6. Did any network ask when the earmarks were requested for things like Defense?

Answer:  No.  These requests were prior(by many months)  to the agreed upon moratorium on earmarks and prior to the release of the Debt Commission Report by many months.

7. Did anyone ask why the Congressional leadership chose to ignore the critical funding requests until the end of the year when the government was almost out of money?

Answer: No

8. Who controlled the majority in the 2010 Congress?

Answer: Democrats

9.  When 70% of the people were against the proposed Healthcare bill for moral and/or economic reasons, did Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi EVER cave due to pressure from the constituents or the Tea Party pressure?

Answer:  NO

10. Did Harry Reid and the liberals gain anything by dismissing the Omnibus Spending Bill?

Answers:

1)  Republicans threatened to demand the reading of the bill.  This would cause a lot of parliamentary delay (up to 80 hours if requested twice) and put passage of other bills at risk in this session.  The Democrats gained time on the floor by dismissing the bill.

2) There was plenty of time to ensure passage of the Arms Treaty (which weakens the US defense), and the temporary funding bill for the government.

These latter two bills will assist the Progressives on their agenda for 2012.

11. What did the President gain by this “compromise” on the tax situation?

Answer:  Some Independents, Republicans, Tea Partiers, and media began to say he is moving more toward the center, just like Bill Clinton.  It softened opposition to his Presidency to some degree.

12.  Did the President “care” about compromise when he refused to meet with any conservatives for about 18 months?

Answer.  No.  He continued to use his Congressional majority to ram the agenda down the throats of Americans.

13. Did the President “lose” anything on the tax compromise?

Answer:  A bit of grumbling from the left and saber rattling.  Nancy and Harry are still in place and they were able to get the liberals under control in under two weeks.

What is the moral of this story?  Liberals have proven repeatedly over the past two years that they are ruthless, and will do anything to achieve their agenda.  The Senate is still controlled by a Master Puppetmaster named Senator Harry Reid.   Leopards don’t change their spots, and patriots need to beware of trickery in the coming two years.

Leadership at work in Texas!

Posted on November 11, 2010. Filed under: Conservative, government, Healthcare, Politics | Tags: , , , , , |

Recently Governor Rick Perry was in Houston, Texas for a round of book signing.  He had written a book called “Fed UP!” and it was released the week of the election.  Some may say it sounds somewhat self-centered to have a book tour on the heels of a successful election campaign.  This could not be further from the truth.

Prior to his book signing event in Houston, I was fortunate to have time privately speaking/listening with Governor Perry and another area blogger, Mark Robinson.  What we encountered was a man who wants to get state rights back in line with what was written by the Founding Fathers. The intent of the book was clear. Governor Perry hopes to “wake up” more of the people about how we can resolve our current difficulties with the powers in Washington. This book gives him a “ticket” so to speak, to share his vision for state solutions with the media, conservatives, and others of influence. Indeed, this is a very clever idea

Having been released from the shackles of campaign fervor, he appeared renewed and refreshed. His demeanor could best be described as inspired. Clearly Governor Perry is on a mission to protect Texas and ensure it thrives in the midst of the Federal Government power grab. What I witnessed was an amazing thinker, who is striving to share a vision that could literally help to save our republic and save Texas.

The Governor began travel the day after the election.  There was no rest for the weary. He has been busy articulating the importance of state rights and the tenth amendment at all the stops.  Amidst the many interviews, the Governor was also a part of an important meeting with the new Majority Leader in the House. A group of Governors were contacted by Majority Leader, John Boehner for a meeting.  The Governor indicated Mr. Boehner was pragmatic and aware innovative ideas would be the answer for a stronger future in America.

Governor Perry is known for being a solutions oriented individual.  He articulated a strong belief in the power of allowing ideas to incubate in the states.  Competition between the states benefits all Americans.  Another key idea is a strong state healthcare solution in Texas which could save both Texas and the Federal Government billions of dollars.  It was evident from the tone of conversation many months have been spent on surveying the landscape, and deriving potential hypotheses/solutions from the data.  It is important to note here that the Texas Public Policy Foundation has engaged in research with the Heritage Foundation, Cato Institute, and the state of Utah Healthcare Solution among other sources to assist the Governor and Texas on the subject of healthcare.  The Governor has been on a mission to find viable alternatives resulting in a better quality of the life for Texans and also assist the Federal Government in resolution of some of the debt.

Several observations were made during our time with the Governor.  The burden of state debt on each Texas citizen is $520.  In contrast, the burden of Federal debt on each Texas citizen is approximately $42,000!  The difference is staggering.  For many years the Federal Government has continued to expand it’s power.  One of the worst examples of overreach is Social Security.  Per the Governor, this is a Ponzi Scheme.  This author finds it refreshing to hear a political leader acknowledge what many of us have known for decades.  The Federal Government has tricked and swindled millions of Americans in an effort to grow their power.  It is time to stop the madness.

The President’s debt commission is releasing a report this week suggesting the answer is to make the American taxpayer pay higher taxes with less benefits.  Therein lies the problem.  We have a delusional group in power in the Federal Government who assume they have the right to all the monies earned by the citizens.  Governor Perry recognizes this is but a symptom of the real problem.  The real problem is the Federal Government has overstepped it’s authority into the lives of Americans.  Less Government is the solution which results in more liberty for every patriot.

This article is not a rah-rah about the Governor of Texas.  I had just finished reading his new book, “Fed UP!”, and was looking forward to hearing more about his vision to return to a more prosperous, quality way of life.  It is important we take note of strong leadership when it is found, in this day and age of challenges for our country.  Leaving the meeting, I must admit to being energized and looking forward to the next chapter of history for our country.  With leaders emerging in the midst of chaos, there is hope for a better tomorrow.

The Vote Choices are Clear Today!

Posted on November 2, 2010. Filed under: Activism, Conservative, government, Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , |

Our Nation is uniting as never seen in many decades.  People are making a clear choice of what America stands for, and what the people will do to protect her.   Over the past two years, a concerted effort has been made by the liberals to dismantle the republic and it’s foundation.   The liberals have shown the people of America, they will strive to achieve the socialist agenda regardless of what Americans may think.

I ask you to consider the choice of socialism versus liberty as we go to the polls today.  The liberal left is who needs to be replaced this election.  We must do this to stop the quickstep to become a fully socialistic society.  In the next season of elections, we will be able to replace any elected officials who choose not to listen to the people.   It is imperative we all vote a straight conservative ticket in this particular election.  We are so near the “edge of the cliff”, that without a conservative majority……they will be able to complete their agenda.

Many of you have already voted.  If you have voted, please continue calling people to get out the vote.  We have all endured indignities at the hands of these people.  They have called us liars, cheaters, 4 letter words, and even accused us of wanting to hurt minorities!  They have no shame.  It is not possible to for these liberal politicians to stand on their issues, as those principles are not what America embraces as a nation.

Finally, I would like to reiterate two critical things that need to happen on this historical day.  Be vigilant.  Pay attention at the polls and in the surrounds outside.  If you witness evidence of voter intimidation, report it.   And most importantly, I’d like to reach out to all the Christians in this great nation.   We all need to pray for this country and for those people that would choose to tear it apart.

In God we Trust!

Elena Kagan’s Senate Circus

Posted on August 4, 2010. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , , , , |

Where to begin?   The Judiciary Committee hearings were riveting.  Yes,  I was one of the few who chose to watch the saga fully on television!   Many traits emerged about the candidate quickly, under the barrage of questions from the Senators.  She was intelligent.  Ms. Kagan proved herself to be adept at sidestepping difficult questions, and watering down what should have been straightforward answers.  Her career was exemplary.   She was the President’s choice.

Ms. Kagan’s nomination moved out of committee and to the final step of confirmation on the basis of a single Republican vote joining with the chorus of Democrats.  The Senator was Lindsey Graham.   What is remarkable about this?  The evidence discussed in the hearing pointed to a couple of disturbing facts.  Ms. Kagan objected to the Don’t Ask/Don’t tell policy which was a law passed by Congress of the United States.    Her effort to make a political point at the expense of the US military, and in defiance of clear federal law passed by the Congress, called into question her willingness to be governed by that  law.  Her history showed a lack of respect for the law and the men and women of the military through actions she took as the Dean of Harvard.  There was also some questionable conduct with regard to the partial birth abortion decision under former President Bill Clinton.

The Senate Floor proved to be more exciting than the committee hearing.  Senator Jeff Sessions opened the floor speeches about Ms. Kagan.  There were several key points about how she had caused problems for the military while Dean at Harvard.  The most important points were about how far she would go to “win”.  Her actions while serving under President Bill Clinton on the issue of partial birth abortions resulted in an acceptance of this medical procedure.  Just today,  this writer received an email stating Ms. Kagan is being brought up on ethics charges by a non-partisan Justice group regarding her involvement with the partial birth decision.   Repeatedly her actions in the past positions have exhibited she will use everything humanly possible to further her own beliefs.

Everyone knew she was a progressive.  However, when the question was delivered, “Ms. Kagan, do you view yourself as a legal progressive”?  She feigned ignorance of what this meant.  This is a very articulate smart woman.  No matter how them tried to ask the question (in a multitude of ways),  Ms. Kagan pretended to be baffled.  Several of her references were quoted as saying she was a brilliant legal progressive. Still, Ms. Kagan did not waver on playing dumb.   Does anyone else find this disturbing?   We have a woman of obvious clarity and intelligence who is interviewing for the highest job in the land, and she will not answer a very straightforward question.

Senator John Cornyn’s remarks were both powerful and succinct.  He clearly stated the problem in front of the US Senate.  Elena Kagan has demonstrated her inability to simply interpret the laws of the land.  They are colored by her own opinions.  The American Standard is of a blind and impartial justice.   Her “hero” in the judiciary is a Judge Barak in Israel who is known for being one of the most radical judges of them all.  Judge Barak charts new territory based upon law + bias + social issues.   She will be likely to legislate from the bench (based upon the past).   There are grave concerns about her ability to transform and be able to interpret decisions based upon the constitution.

How can a woman be given a lifetime job, who has never been a judge, and who has a history of challenging laws in prejudicial manners?  How can the American people have faith in a Supreme Court, when at least this one will not be able to judge based upon the laws of the land?  This is yet another example of the Federal Government being out of control.   We expect a liberal judge nominee from a liberal President.  However, we would expect one who has a substantial experience, and a history reflective of a person who supports the laws of the land.

With extreme disbelief I listened to absolute drivel from Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.  He cautioned his peers to not be political on the decison.  In fact, it sounded as though he was chastising the Republicans who had offered opinions based on the facts.  The Senator referred to a Federalist Paper by Alexander Hamilton which talked about this type of nomination.  The Federalist document basically said this is a Presidential choice and unless the person is unfit, they should support the President.    Senator Graham tried to say the Republicans were simply being political.   Further, the Senator stated he admired her and felt her to be highly qualified.  This is a woman who has litigated for 2 years and has zero judicial experience.  Ms. Kagan’s entire career was spent in politics and academia.  Was he not paying attention in the judicial committee interview?   Her unwillingness to answer questions on her judicial philosophies indicated a political approach throughout the hearing.  She was unable to articulate any example of when she would determine a control  over the reach of the Federal Government.  This woman does not appear to understand the concept of limited government or the designated uninalienable rights to the people.  Clearly her personal politics and beliefs come first.  At one point Senator Graham reflected on how she will be an “independent” judge.   He believes the President has “earned the right” to  have whomever he wants for the Supreme Court Job.  Further the Senator stated the only way to say no, is if she is not worthy of the job.   The Senator is incorrect in his assumptions and conclusions.    The single most laughable point he made was in his hopes this would be quid pro quo with the Democrats in the future.  What a joke!   He is attempting to say this yes vote of his will be a bargaining chip for democratic support in the future?   It is unconscienable that this woman should ever have been solicitor general of the US, much less be given the ultimate lifetime job.   There is one thing very clear about Senator Graham.  He does not love America, the constitution, or her people.

About halfway through this, Senator Reid appeared on the floor and threatened a potential cloture vote.   There has been no indication of a filibuster, and he placed this over the Republicans’ heads.  Who puts politics before honor and why?  Senator Lindsey Graham and Senator Harry Reid appear to be very much alike……..something to think about.

Thinktanks weigh in on Healthcare

Posted on May 31, 2010. Filed under: Conservative, government, Healthcare, Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , , |

Recently, I had the good fortune to attend an event sponsored by The Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF).  They had brought the best minds together from across the country for a morning of conversation regarding potential solutions to a pressing problem for Texas and all of the nation.  I’d like to focus first on the content, followed by my own humble conclusions.

The  Honorable Arlene Wohlgemuth was our moderator to the event.  She is the Executive Director of the Foundation’s Center for Health Care Policy.    It was made clear we were there, not only for an update on healthcare, but to specifically focus on state solutions.  The first speaker introduced was Speaker of the House, David Clark from Utah.

Utah has implemented a healthcare solution for their state.  It is focused on being patient centric.   Their state identified the healthcare challenges a few years ago (this was prior to the Obama administration).  The next step was to develop a vision of a healthcare system to resolve problems and make it cost effective for the consumers.  It is now 2010 and the people of Utah have a very real example of what can be accomplished at state level.  The most salient point offered was unique solutions would be required for each of the states.  The states are unique and their demographics reflect different cultures and customs.  Utah had developed a cost effective approach which resolved their list of challenges.  There is no individual mandate nor is there a mandate for employers.   Clearly a state should have the right to implement such a plan.  The government role is market facilitator in the Utah solution.   The healthcare system in Utah began by offering private sector reforms.  This will be followed by reform of the public sector.  There is also a risk adjustment mechanism.    The Utah system is a free market system.  Here is the link, to this most remarkable solution:  http://www.exchange.utah.gov/

The next speaker was the esteemed Michael Cannon from Cato Institute.   His focus in this discussion was about the real cost of Obamacare.    There are several different prices being discussed with regard to the Healthcare Reform Law.    We are talking abou the price now and the price of the new healthcare reform bill in the future.  Until we repeal obamacare, nothing will make a difference. The unfunded mandate on the taxpayer is the largest in history.  The tax credits are a temporary reprieve and will only help a very small percentage of the population.  With each day that passes, there are more disturbing financial facts that are coming to light about this law.   Mr. Cannon had many excellent points about the economic trouble, this bill is likely to call if it is not repealed.  For more from Michael Cannon, I refer you to this interview he gave on CSpan about Obamacare:  http://www.cato.org/mediahighlights/index.php?highlight_id=1292

The final speaker of the morning was Edmund Haislmaier.  Heritage had riveting observations about the anomalies of this situation.    Medicaid will have many disruptions generated by Obamacare.   Expanding coverage to everyone comes at a great cost to business owners and  individuals.  Benefit costs will necessarily go up due to the mandates and increased numbers of people that do not contribute via taxes. Small business will be better off paying the penalties and dropping the coverage. Standards of coverage will be dropped dramatically beginning at  64 yrs of age.  Quote Edmund Haislmaier: “Clearly ignorance and incompetence have ruled this entire process.  Harry Reid never meant this particular piece of legislation to be the final option;  it is not the sane response”.

The people at Federal level complemented Massachusetts and they are a failure.  The Feds knew nothing about it.  Utah is successful in their efforts and they did not look at it. It is all about doing it the Federal way.

What is the solution to this obvious debacle?

We need to repeal the thing, period.  Do what we can for insurance independence quickly!  Mr.  Haislmaier recommended a benchmark analysis for Texas as soon as possible.  Identify what the world will look like pre-obamacare and post obamacare.    The most prudent choice will be the one designed specifically for a Texas solution.   The process would be to identify, measure, and pushback via the use of state legislation.   For more indepth healthcare information by Edmund Haislmaier, please go to this website:  http://www.heritage.org/Research/Reports/2010/04/State-Health-Care-Reform-An-Update-on-Utahs-Reform

What I learned at this event, was simple.  People need to develop a framework in their respective states to identify the problems.  Put together a meaningful benchmark using a state solution and compare it to Obamacare.  The next step is to use legislation to implement the laws which would further enable a state solution based on the needs of the people.  This would provide the greatest protection against the intrusion of Obamacare.

In my humble opinion, this event was without peer.  The Texas Public Policy Foundation is a rare gem that deserves our support for it’s continued growth.  Please have a look at the TPPF:  http://www.texaspolicy.com/

“How can limited government and fiscal restraint be equated with lack of compassion for the poor? How can a tax break that puts a little more money in the weekly paychecks of working people be seen as an attack on the needy? Since when do we in America believe that our society is made up of two diametrically opposed classes—one rich, one poor—both in a permanent state of conflict and neither able to get ahead except at the expense of the other? Since when do we in America accept this alien and discredited theory of social and class warfare? Since when do we in America endorse the politics of envy and division?”

Obama and Cronies Sell Out America

Posted on March 21, 2010. Filed under: Conservative, government, Politics | Tags: , , , , |

There were so many great promises given during the Obama campaign.  After the vote last night,  it all became clear to the American people.  This administration does not like the American way of life.  We had suspected as much, but the ramped up activities of the last few months prove the case beyond any doubt.

We have seen the President of the United States bring disgrace to the office of the President, time and again over the last several months.  The minute he came to office, there were speeches given around the world by him, apologizing for American “behavior”.  He apologized to our enemies, and repeatedly had actions which served to alienate the allies of America.

The President made it clear early on in his term of office, that he was the friend to the unions.  In fact, the unions greatly influenced him.  Andy Stern, the President of the SEIU had more visits to the White House last year than any other person.  The Commander in Chief of this country’s armed forces chose to surround himself with advisors who admire Mao, Marx, Chavez, and many have broken the law.  He nominated a Treasury of Secretary who was guilty of evading income tax.  There is a Czar who has had questionable relationships with young boys.  The President appointed many Czars to positions without putting them through the Congressional Review Process.  This is in violation of the Constitution.   Sadly, America was unhappy with the last administration and were easy prey for this calculating man who does not love this republic or the people.

We have a man in the White House who does not refer to the Constitution, but constantly refers to changing America.  Yes indeed he has changed America.  It is clear that he is skillfully and aggressively dismantling the United States of America.  Since his time in office, he has pushed the progressives in the House and they have passed legislation giving the Federal government power over automotive industries, banking, financial sectors, student loans, insurance companies, and now our healthcare.  He had condoned arm-twisting, bribes, lying, and any other manner of unsavory thug tactics to get his agenda accomplished expediously.  People have tried in vain to ask if he condones this type of behavior in the Congress.  He adroitly avoids an answer, and fills the gap with rhetoric of how he is “saving Americans”.

At a time when our country is deeply in debt, the Progressives under his urging and leadership have continued to pass numerous bills which require more money resulting in a larger deficit.  Tonight they passed a large healthcare bill as their latest gambit to completely control the American people.  This will begin taxing the people immediately in a time when millions are out of work and small businesses are struggling for survival.  One would seriously question their motives after this blatant gesture of ignoring the plight of the American people.  These same people have their own healthplan.  The Congress refused to be on the same program for Healthcare as the American People.  How dare they?  Clearly, they are unaware of who their employer is at this point in time.  Obama cannot save them from the consequences of their actions.  The American people are not stupid and see exactly what is going on in Washington.

Furthermore, the legislation was written in conjunction with outside organizations that include lobbyists and union organizations.   This man has no scruples.  Chicago thug tactics are prevailing in Washington.  The radical left in the Democratic party are very happy with this state of affairs.  One only had to watch a small bit of the speeches on the floor of the House or Senate to quickly see the “Kool-Aid” glaze in their eyes when referring to the President.  Anything goes with this man, and the Progressives are openly embracing this approach.

Tonight was the finale in a long series of bribes and arm-twisting by the President and his cronies.  There was a special deal for Nebraska, Florida, Connecticut, Stupak, Vermont, Michigan, North Dakota and Louisiana that we know of at this time.  Special deals made for “special people” who would vote for the Healthcare Bill.  These special deals will be paid for with the hard earned tax dollars of the American People. There were 219 Democrats that voted for this bill.  Many were offered “deals” behind closed doors that we have yet to hear about.

We need to aggressively work this year to get rid of the traitors to the United States way of life.  There are 219 people in the House and a majority in the Senate that need to be voted out.  What were they thinking when they voted us into generational debt, and more unemployment?  They were thinking of themselves ladies and gentlemen.  These people do not deserve our trust nor our money.  Let’s send them packing.  My next article will include a list with some priorities.  Stay tuned – we have only just begun to fight!

Tenth Amendment Rights Townhall (Part 3)

Posted on March 20, 2010. Filed under: Activism, Conservative, government, Politics, Uncategorized | Tags: , , , , , |

We come now to the third segment in our series on the Tenth Amendment Town Hall in Plano Texas. This segment focuses on the states’ rights panel, and the panel on nullification.

The States’ Rights Panel was comprised of the following distinguished individuals:

  • Texas State Representative:  Bryan Hughes
  • Rachel Brand:  Attorney with WilmerHale; Former Assistant Attorney General
  • Ken Emmanuelson:  Attorney and Co-founder of the Dallas Tea Party
  • Matt Miller – Attorney, Institute for Justice, Texas Chapter

There are several options that should be considered as the states reaffirm their rights. There was a lot of discussion in this segment on how the Federal Government has chipped away at state rights for decades. Interstate Commerce became an umbrella clause used to permit almost any action the Federal Government wanted to mandate. Several cases such as Lopez as come up that are bringing the rights back into the states.

States can refuse to cooperate with federal mandates. The entire panel agreed the states need to take their power seriously and step up and control the situation. The Texas Constitution defines everything perfectly and complements the powers given to the people in the US Constitution.

This segment began with questions from the audience on specific topics. One of the most lively discussions was about immigration. Given that the 10th amendment exists, is there a way for TX to enforce the immigration laws? As a practical matter, in Texas we are allowed to enforce laws. Representative Bryan Hughes stated “We have put more people and technology in the border area, even if we cannot do specific enforcement at the border.” Ken Emmanuelson thought we need to enforce at the local level. Everyone should do their homework and hold local officials accountable. The speakers agreed the concept of sanctuary cities needs to go. The panel thought it would be useful to institute e-verify.

Ms. Brand spoke extensively about the 287 G law (cooperative immigration law that uses Federal and State authorities working together) that is in place. Immigration law is very complex between the federal and state government. There are some instances where we need to accept fed money. She acknowledged there are some unique issues such as immigration that are paid by the fed government. We can’t arrest them for entering illegal, but we can arrest them for breaking other specific laws.

Can we impound the fed tax money and use it for our purposes? Per Bryan Hughes: Unfortunately, how can we do this without fear of consequence from them? Texas is one of the few states that can say no to a lot of the stimulus and other funds. It would not be possible to refuse all of it. There are many things that should be covered by the Federal Government.

The Nullification Panel was comprised of the following distinguished individuals:

  • Robert L. Flournoy: Attorney
  • Greg Holloway: Attorney and co-founder of Common Sense Texans
  • Hiram Sasser:  Director of litigation, Liberty Legal Institute
  • Dan Mornoff, Atty. K & L Gates

The opinion of this panel was unanimous with regard to the topic of nullification. Nullification is a possibility, although it is practically very limited in scope. This is clearly not the best course of action for the state or the citizens at this time.

Enforcement of State Rights is not the only means, but is the most immediate and effective resource we have to combat the Federal expansion of power. We do our job with honor and decorum, but we as Texans will do whatever is possible to ensure this government does not succeed in expanding their power. Texas is full of great men and women who are stepping up to ensure this government is not successful in limiting our liberty.

Nullification is like using a water pistol to put out a forest fire. You will be laughed out of court if you file stating federal mandates do not apply to us. In fact, sanctions may be levied against the respective state and the citizens who file this action.

The panel of constitutional experts agreed for a successful result, we need to pursue aggressively and collectively (as many states as possible) to maintain our 10th amendment rights. Legally this is the most effective way to ensure the desired result.

From the audience, there was some discussion on the topic of immigration and what we can do to limit Texas money from being sent out of the state by the illegal immigrants. The following suggestion was made: Is it constitutional to put a transactional tax on financial transactions going from here to Mexico? The panel’s response was: This is a good example of how to affect a behavior using a legal transaction, however yet again, this would involve a cooperative effort with the Federal Government because it involves a transaction that crosses the state border and involves an international transaction.

The panel was clear in their overview on nullification. This will not work, given how far we have come from state rights due to the decisions over the past decades by the US Supreme Court. The states must use the most powerful tool at their disposal for such an obvious attempt of the expansion of Federal Power. The choice is to use the state rights to protect the citizens.

For further information on the topic, I’ve included the link to the positioning paper offered by the Texas Conservative Coalition:  http://www.txcc.org/files/TenthAmendmentIssueBrief.pdf
Thank you to Brent Connett of the Texas Conservative Coalition for assisting us with this document.

Election Night with Governor Perry and Friends

Posted on March 2, 2010. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , , , |

Driftwood Texas is definitely the place to be tonight! There is a pavillion at Salt Lick BBQ down a beautiful country road in Texas. People are still coming in the door in droves. Music is great, and everyone is watching the election returns come in on the big screens. Satellite trucks crowd the parking lot and the network anchors are here in force.

It has been an eventful campaign trail for the Governor. He has successfully guided Texas through the turbulent economic chaos being sorely felt by the other states. His style has been that of a very conservative, thoughtful person who is not averse to taking risks. The risks don’t always work out, and he quickly charts a different course. Consistently he has made decisions that benefit Texans overall.

The time has come for Texas to let Governor Perry know they appreciate his hard work that has kept the state in relatively good shape. Texans still have problems, but he is systematically chipping away at our issues.

Game over. Kay Bailey Hutchinson just called the Governor a few moments ago to concede in the race. She has pledged she and her supporters will work to ensure the Governor is re-elected in November. His wife introduced him tonight for the update on the campaign. It was clear his wife and family are a major part of his team, and that drives him to succeed for everyone.

Her comment was that he lives and breathes Texas each day. He wakes up each day wondering how he can improve things for Texans. This is what it is all about. A staunch conservative that knows what the priorities should be in life. The crowd responded enthusiastically to his remarks. He has proven time and again that his leadership has protected Texas in a sea of uncertain times in America.

As the governor stated, “May God continue to bless Texas”. And on we go toward the November election with the Governor and Kay Bailey Hutchinson working together to ensure Texas remains a conservative state.

The Perfect Storm Comes to America

Posted on January 1, 2010. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , , , , , |

We witnessed many changes in 2009.  Unfortunately, not many of the changes in 2009 benefited America.  In fact, the actions of this administration have devalued the dollar, increased unemployment, further crippled the economy, divided the country, and has shown no regard for the constitution or any of the existing laws of our land.   Politicians became giddy with their own power and openly bribed and coerced others to support them on unsavory causes.  A President came to power with the promise of hope and change.  Little did the people know, that he would introduce socialism and Marxist leaning individuals into the government.  Unemployment has soared under this administration.  It took our country from 1776 to 2008 to reach just over 5 Trillion dollars in debt.  In 12 months time (2009), our country saw an explosion of approximately 13 Trillion dollars of debt.  The national debt was doubled in less than 12 months! Is this the hope and change the President promised to the nation?

The politicians have spent money recklessly with no regard for the warnings of the worldwide economist community.  Money is now printed to cover the debts, thus making the value of the dollar dramatically decline.  China, one of the premiere lenders to the United States, warned that the proposed Healthcare Bill may not be a good idea given our debt situation.  China is essentially our banker, and we did not listen!  Americans were told by the Secretary of the Treasury to not spend so much money, be mindful of your debt!!  Yet the politicians were encouraged to wildly plunge our country into debt by the President of the United States.  Why?

The debt ceiling was raised by the Congress.  This action of raising the debt ceiling is so they can spend more.  Does any of this spending make sense in light of a struggling economy in the United States?  Yes, it makes perfect sense if you have read the writings of Saul Alinsky or Karl Marx.  Both of these individuals advocated driving a country into chaos by destroying the economy.  When you have complete chaos in a country, there is always room for radicals to use this to advantage and take over the country.  This is a standard procedure for people who want to install a tyrannical government over the masses.  Read the Manifesto by Marx, or Rules for Radicals by Alinsky.  You may be wondering at this point, who on earth would revere the aforementioned writers or those particular written works?  The answer may be difficult for many of you to hear.  The President, the majority of his Czars, Hillary Clinton, the former Czar Van Jones, the former Czar Anita Dunn, Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Watson, Harry Reid, etc., etc.   All of them are students of these works and have exhibited their respect for those writers and those ideas on tyrannical power that is supposed to “benefit the masses”.  What America has witnessed is the perfect storm coming together in the United States.  Never in the history of our country have so many left leaning radicals been in charge in our government and in all surrounding offices.  From the cities, to the states, to the national government we find extreme leftists in power at the same time.  These people have been taught the theories of socialism, Marxism, and tyranny are the best way to retain power and control the population.  All of this has converged at a time when people were reacting “against” the former administration and yearning for something different.  This administration promised change, but the people had no idea what was yet to come.

The people of this administration and this Congress have exhibited little respect for the constitution as they have consistently been voting to ignore it.  Our own President has undermined the authority given to the Senate in the Constitution by installing Czars that were not evaluated nor approved by the standard procedures of the Congress.  Clearly he knew what he was doing by avoiding scrutiny of all of his “advisors”.  I’d like to mention a few of them and their attributes.  The manufacturing Czar stated he found a repulsion to capitalism and that he believed Mao had a good idea of having people look down the barrel of a gun.  The Czar of the Schools does not believe there is anything wrong with young boys having sex with adult men.  Anita Dunn, the former media Czar, said she frequently turned to Mao for ideas and thoughts (Mao was a mass murderer).  Consider the fact that these people are respected and revered by this President.  He chose them to be his trusted advisors on national matters.  Of the 32 people chosen by the President to be close advisors, the majority of them have affiliated with radicals and socialists most of their lives.  They tout the grandness of Castro and Chavez!  It has become difficult to recognize our country.  The media has ceased to report on any possible “hint” of radicalism affiliated with this administration.

What can we do as concerned citizens to address these concerns?  I submit to you that the radicals are a very small portion of our population.  It just happens that they have the majority of the power in our country at this time.  As Americans we should exercise our rights given to us by the Constitution.  Legally, we have rights and need to be fully aware of how we can make positive change in this country at a time when it seems somewhat discouraging.  Stay tuned for a positive plan!

Letter to Congress: America is Watching!

Posted on December 22, 2009. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , , , |

Dear Congress:

We the people have been watching the healthcare debate and all of you over the last several months.  To that end, the people want to be certain you are fully aware of our position on the activities in Washington.

We the people are fully aware of the following:

1)      Bribes and sweetheart deals have been made to ensure the adequate number of votes are obtained for the healthcare bill.  These deals give advantages monetarily to corporations, individuals and states in exchange for support on the healthcare bill.  The deals discriminate against the millions of Americans who will pay more taxes and insurance premiums to pay for those promises.  For instance, the state of Nebraska is exempt on some costs, and the rest of the country will bear the burden.  Senators have been so bold on the Senate floor as to “brag” about the deal they achieved for their state over the other states.

2)      This bill is not improving healthcare costs.  Healthcare premiums will increase for the Americans who are currently paying for healthcare.

3)      The Constitution is being trampled on to satisfy the power grab by the Federal Government.  If you listened to the speeches on the floor of the Senate beginning December 21st and 22nd,  it was plainly stated the progressives think the rights of the Federal government take precedence over the rights of the people as enumerated in the Constitution.

4)      There is sleazy arm twisting going on in the democratic party behind closed doors to ensure the adequate number of votes are obtained for the healthcare bill.  Don’t tell us, this is how deals get done in Washington.  We don’t care. STOP now.

5)      Democrats are more than willing to add further burdens to the people in the form of taxes while we are struggling in this economic climate.  People are jobless, losing their homes, and struggling to put food on the table.  What did the progressives elect to do, to help us?  We know there are 10 new taxes.

6)      Small businesses will suffer greatly under the penalties and mandates in this healthcare bill.  There are approximately 6,000 businesses in the USA which are selling medical devices.  New taxes on medical devices will cause many of them to go out of business, and jobs will be lost.  The net result is economically fewer people will be able to afford them, and more people will die as a result.  Nearly 1,000 people per day die from cardiac arrest.  To save these people, and prevent brain damage, a defibrillator needs to be within 5 minutes proximity of the person.  Fewer organizations will be able to purchase these due to the new tax regulations.  This is just one example of how the people will suffer more with this legislation in place.

7)      This isn’t about healthcare, but about ensuring unlimited powers of the Federal Government over the states and the people.  Re:  The speech of Max Baucus to the Senate on December 21, 2009.  Thank you to Mr. Baucus for making it crystal clear on the intentions of the Progressives.

8)      There is a text provision in the Healthcare Bill to prevent future Congresses from repealing this legislation.

9)     Both the President and the progressives in Congress have deceived the people.

10)  All of you are fully aware the American People do NOT support this legislation based upon the numerous poll numbers reported over the last several weeks.

Consider this your notice that we the people will not tolerate the arrogance exhibited by the progressives in Washington.  The Congress works for us, and not the other way around.  All of you are strongly encouraged to have a read of the Constitution and the enumerated powers.  Please be aware that thugs and bullies in the government are not going to be acceptable to any of us.

This writer is strongly encouraging everyone to make this message viral.  The people should send mail to their governors and legislators now to mandate passing of nullification bills.  There are precedents that have been made by the Supreme Court on the using of “interstate commerce” as an excuse for passing of unconstitutional legislation.  This legislation does not fall into any of the categories outlined by the Supreme Court in their interpretation of the enumerated powers of our constitution.  References include:  Wicker vs. Philburn, Gonzales vs Reich, USA vs Lopez, and USA vs. Morrison.  In these cases the Supreme Court rendered specific decisions on Commerce.  According to their guidelines, the Individual Mandate in the Healthcare legislation is not supported by the Constitution.  This was brought to light this morning in the Senate by Senator Ensign and Senator Hatch.

It is time we stand up for our liberty, and assert who works for whom, once and for all.

Kind regards,

The People who hired you

DEATH PANEL by any other name = SENATE!

Posted on December 4, 2009. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , , , , |

This week the Senate was given a choice.  Do they accept the extreme cuts to senior citizen benefits in the proposed Healthcare bill, or do they put the senior benefits back into the bill by sending it back to be fixed by the Senate Finance Committee?  This was proposed as an amendment to the Healthcare proposal now in the Senate.

There are 500 Billion dollars in immediate proposed cuts to seniors.  From 2010 to 2020 senior benefits will be reduced by 3 Trillion Dollars as confirmed by the CBO to the non-Democrats in the Senate.       Here are a few things that are impacted:

1)      14.6 Billion cut from nursing homes

2)      7.6 Billion cut from Hospice Care

3)      137.5 Billion cut from hospitals who treat Seniors (primarily rural areas)

4)      Medicare Advantage

Medicare Advantage is essentially a private health insurance plan that Seniors pay into, to get additional benefits.  Seniors pay quite a bit for this policy.  Approximately 20% of the seniors use this plan today.  This plan provided lower deductibles, lower co-pays, preventive care screening, home health help for the chronically ill and many other things such as eye glasses, hearing aides, etc.  This is the first instance of the government electing to get rid of a private plan.  We will be seeing many more as the government uses their power to get rid of the competition.  One may say what is the reasoning behind getting rid of something like Medicare Advantage that the seniors pay extra for…..  Well, the answer is simple.  It is another payoff to get support.  AARP who is supposed to represent seniors used to be against the health bill.  Now they say all of their members are for it.  AARP has a competitive plan like Medicare Advantage that offers benefits to seniors at a much higher rate.  AARP stands to make a lot of money on this deal.  It is not about the seniors, it is about making money.

I used to believe in the inherent goodness of people.  The actions of the 58 Senators who voted to keep these cuts to senior care is appalling.  To make good on the deal to the AARP and countless others, they are voting to hurt millions of Americans.  It was the only way they could think of to “pay for the expansion of government”.

These are the same people who voted not to partake in this health care proposed in the plan.  Clearly they believe they are better than you!!   If they truly believe this bill is good for the majority of the people, they would also be in the plan.  The group it will advantage is some of the people in the US who have never contributed to a hospital insurance plan or to medicare.  It is about the democrats trying to “buy” the vote of the poor with Healthcare!

There are also provisions to have the illegal aliens on healthcare.  Again, this is about getting a large block of people who can vote for the democrats and their vision of a socialist America.

58 United States Senators weighed in on the value of seniors to society by voting for the cuts to senior healthcare.   This is a clear indication of what is to come, when the government is in charge of our heathcare.  The chart below has the name and state of everyone who voted to make life and death decisions for the seniors now and the seniors in future.  This is a very good example of how the bureaucrats in Washington will be determining who will get adequate healthcare.  Is it the answer to the healthcare woes to choose who to help with this healthcare bill and who to hurt?

These people are immoral and definitely not doing their job per the constitution.  Vote them out of office.   The underlined bold names are the ones up for election this year.  Do not worry about having to save this blog for future.  My Christmas gift to all of you, is that I will be publishing this every year so we can continue to get the rest of them out.  We must be diligent and help these people return home so they can learn what it is like to be a loyal citizen.

My only request is this:  Please share this blog with your friends and neighbors.  It truly needs to go viral.  Thank you.

Another Grassroots Candidate for Congress in Texas!

Posted on November 22, 2009. Filed under: Activism, Politics | Tags: , , , , , |

Tom Tancredo (L), Tim Graney (R) Photography by Eddie Gallegos

Tim Graney announced his candidacy for Congress on October 19th.

Who is Tim Graney?  Most importantly to the disenchanted citizens of the United States, what does Tim Graney stand for?

Understanding past experience and recent public efforts say a lot about the individual.  Tim Graney was an active member of the Katy Tea Party.  He wasn’t just a board member.  Tim chose to be active in many additional community events to raise awareness.  As time progressed, the more he came to realize there was much more to be done for America in this role.  In October, he answered the call to action with a commitment to serve the people of Texas and this country.  A very big step for any American, and particularly at this point in history, to commit yourself 120% to the “refounding” of America!

His platforms of what he would like to accomplish are distinct and his opening campaign speech illustrated his knowledge of the topics.  Tim Graney’s campaign kick-off speech fully illustrated his vision:  “In my first term in office, I will focus on three key areas of legislation to propel this country forward – Energy, Business Growth and American Values. The first two are paramount to the economic and long term security of our nation and the third will help return us to our roots that founded and built the greatest nation on earth”.  The message is clean, concise, and says what he is about.  This writer is not suggesting Mr. Graney has all the answers.  What I do suggest is that fresh ideas from a businessman, will go a long way to restoring our Constitutional Republic.

His opponent is Ron Paul (Libertarian), who has been in office for 12 years.  Mr. Paul is a man of principle who has served his constituents in a consistent manner.  This author would suggest we need Ron Paul in a different role at this point in the history of our country.   He has written two prolific books over the past few years, that reveal an indepth  knowledge of how to improve standards on a more national basis.  In my humble opinion, Ron Paul is needed to help guide and promote constitutional conservatives across the land so the people can truly regain control of the government.  To do this, he needs to give up the seat in Congress.  This would enable him to be more involved in the taking back of the country.  We need a man of principle who can rise to the occasion and assist a group of like-minded people to get elected across the nation into the government.  Tim Graney is qualified and capable of leading this district while Mr. Paul helps America regain control of the government.

America needs good people to go into office that will help to protect the constitutional republic.  They need representatives who will abide strictly by the constitution and stop saddling the citizens with an overburden of taxes.  Personal responsibility needs to be reinforced in the country.  There is also a huge need for leaders who can help facilitate this transaction across the United States.  To defeat an organized “machine”, one will need to fight with an organized “machine”.

Health care Moment #5

Posted on November 21, 2009. Filed under: Activism, Politics | Tags: , , , , |

It is established that there will be “Navigator Programs”.  This is a program which will give grants to organizations that can help to manage the citizens in the new Healthcare program.  Organizations that will be eligible for these grants and who can apply are identified.  In that list, are the unions!  Also, on that list are organizations identified  by description.  Those descriptions fit organizations such as ACORN!  ACORN is being investigated in over a dozen states for election fraud.  They are also under investigation for the promotion of illegal activities.  This is who Harry Reid and the democrats think should be eligible to manage the citizens on the healthcare program.  This is who they think is eligible for grant money to help them do this.  I submit to you that the corruption in the Senate is worse than we could have imagined.

Andy Stern of the SEIU has visited the White House 22 times since the new administration took over.

He was also invited to a panel in November 2009 that debated the topic redistribution of wealth at the meeting of the Federalist Society organization.  This organization is made up of highly esteemed lawyers and judges throughout the USA.

On the day of the big vote on the Healthcare bill in the Senate, what group was gathered at the capitol surrounded by Harry Reid, Chris Dodd, Charles Schumer, and others?  It was the SEIU and they were showcased by kicking this press conference off with a speaker from the SEIU.

Is it the unions that are running the White House?

One Step Closer to a Socialist America

Posted on November 21, 2009. Filed under: Activism, Politics | Tags: , , , , , , |

One step closer to a Socialist America

In recent months, strange occurrences have happened on a regular basis in the Congress and Senate.  Bills are being passed that give unprecedented power to the government and severely curtail the liberty of the American population.  This is an attempt to report on the most detrimental of those actions and what we can expect in the near future.   There are a series of events forming a distinct pattern. This premature decision making is pushing America further down the path to Socialism.

Now is a good time to take a look at the foundation of our constitutional republic.  So how is the republic faring these days?  In the constitution, individuals are given the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The government now regulates the automobile industry, the banking industry, the Federal Reserve, Social Security, the mortgage industry and healthcare (soon to be completed). They also have monopolies on Flood Insurance and Student Loans.  As the government has grown, the choices of the individuals have been minimized.  Immediately after the healthcare reform is completed, there is a large Cap N Trade bill coming up.  This legislation will dictate how much electricity you will be permitted to use, the type of lightbulbs to used, the choice of energy used in the home, the specific construction of new homes, how much you travel, and what type of travel (car, bus, airplane) is permissible to individuals.  The frequency of travel will also be legislated. New laws are being introduced that will mandate the choices an individual will be permitted to have by the government.  After this passes, what is left of the individual freedoms in this country?   Of equal importance is the fact most of these efforts involve a redistribution of wealth in America.

Have you been following the bill being proposed that will curtail freedom of speech? Bill 733 is waiting in the wings to be brought to the fore, when America begins shouting too loudly about losing her freedoms.  This bill will give the government the power to control the internet nationwide in the best interest of cyber security”.  The proposal is that people would have to apply for a license, pay a fee, and get approval from the government for internet access.  The “type” of permissible user will be mandated by the government. Currently there are discussions of adding language to legislate journalism as well.  Journalism meaning all newspapers and television news shows, talk shows, radio blogs, and standard blogs.  The regulatory Czar contends this is the only way to ensure quality journalism.  Imagine how the difficulty  if there were no internet, news media, etc.  How would the people know what was going on?  Mmmm, maybe that is the point! Three out of four primary news networks are controlled by the government to a large degree.   The regulatory Czar has already made alarming statements that in his opinion “people criticizing their government should be guilty of treason”.

Not too long ago on Cspan, there was a fascinating speech about this very topic from Senator Alexander from Tennessee.  He commented that people were getting letters and veiled threats from the administration when they disagreed with policies or had negative comments of any kind.  People have had their “hands slapped” by people in the administration and threats of withholding stimulus funds for their constituents were made.  This administration, much like the former Nixon Administration have been forming an “enemies” list.  Their attacks on conservative media have included several direct comments by the President.

We are currently involved in a domestic struggle to save our constitutional republic.  There are many in high places in the government who have determined they know what is best for America, regardless of what the constitution states.  Several of them are known advocates of Socialism and Marxism.  These elitest people with the controlling notions truly believe they are smarter than the 312M+ patriots who live in the USA.  Their idea is to “protect” us by telling us what we can and cannot do.

The majority of current government representatives agree with the administration and  believe in redistributed wealth.  One of the easiest ways to get redistributed wealth to work is via heavy taxation.  The government retains control of most of the public’s money and distributes funds to whom they deem to be worthy.  This whole effect is called socialism.  The movements toward Socialism  have been creeping up on Americans for decades.  Look at the number of taxes we currently have (over 20).  There will now be 9 more taxes with the health “plan” passed by the Senate in the form of direct and excise taxes.  Examine the billions given in grants each year or in government allocations.  Re-distribution of wealth has been at play for a while now in America.

It is time to stand up and demand these people vote in line with the Constitution.  They do not have the rights to govern our liberties and determine how much liberty an individual has in the United States of America.  Let your voices be heard.  More to follow…..

The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men.     Samuel Adams

Health care Moment #2 to think about!

Posted on November 7, 2009. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , , , , |

There are a few places in the Pelosi Health Plan that is leaving the door open to add services shortly after the bill is passed.

Here is example one, here they may determine to add dental care to the package. This will add 10’s of millions with the addition of dental care to the current proposed package.

Report regarding includion of oral Health Care in Essential Benefits Package
—Not later than 1 year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Health and Human Services shall submit to Congress a report containing the results of a study determining the need and cost of providing accessible and affordable oral health care to adults as part of the essential benefits package.

The text below is a promise to provide assistance to hospitals and Doctors that want to help with the setting of standards for the electronic set up for the country’s medical population. This equals future promises to the healthcare community that are now supporting him and giving input. This money has not been calculated into the price tag of this bill.

(D) programs to provide incentives for, and ease the burden of, health care providers who volunteer to participate in the process of setting standards for electronic transactions;

The following states the government haven’t identified the initial benefit standards, so at this point no one knows the actual price of this gargantuan experiment.

DEADLINE.—The Health Benefits Advisory Committee shall recommend initial benefit standards to the Secretary not later than 1 year after the date of the enactment of this Act.

German Speech to Joint House Session Today

Posted on November 3, 2009. Filed under: Activism, Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , |

I was in process of doing my blog research this morning by watching the joint session of congress. Pelosi and the President had arranged for the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel to speak. The end goal of the Marxists and Socialists in our government, may be apparent after hearing her speech.

1. The chancellor gave credit to JFK for the actual fall of the wall.
2. She is calling for the importance of a “global economy” shared by the countries of the world to avoid economic problems in future
3. Further the chancellor is talking about how key a world order will be to help preserve our planet.
4. Chancellor Merkel gave several examples about how the various countries had all helped each other in the past, to lay the initial groundwork in her speech.
5. Bear in mind it was Germany who led the way in the formation of the European Union.
6. In several instances, she reiterated Europe is free like us!
Editorial note: Europe is NOT like us. I have lived and worked there in the past. We have far more liberty as individuals.
7. The chancellor also spoke a great deal about the importance of allies standing united on common goals and the importance of the UN for peacekeeping.

Let’s examine the role of the global warming argument and see how this fits into what we are seeing and hearing from many around the world (including our own government). Noted scientists around the world (including our own from MIT) have published reports that global warming cannot be proven in any way. Perhaps this is another intellectual notion by the “inventor” of the internet, Al Gore? Global warming is a “scam” by the left to control the economy of the world.

I listened to Lord Monckton last evening at a tea party rally in Houston. Read the Copenhagen Treaty to get more information. It is now my strong opinion this is the “end goal” of the group of socialists and marxists who have exerted control of the government. They want a world order which will firmly establish them with power and wealth beyond anything imagined.

The government now controls automobile, banking, and social security amongst other things. Is it coincidence that Secretary of the Treasury, Timothy Geithner, spoke about a preference for a world currency? The Manufacturing Czar spoke about free enterprise being bad for everyone. The Science Czar spoke about the importance of using less material resources so the poor will become prosperous.  The Nobel prize committee are made up of primarily socialists and marxists.  The committe made statements after the award that they hope for significant change in the world due to President Obama.  America, where are you in this line of thinking?  And now the proposed Health care plan will ensure yet another major control over Americans and begin the redistribution of wealth inside the USA.

We must be vigilant and resist in every way possible. The first thing we need to do is stop the healthcare plan from moving forward. In Tandem, I suggest we need to educate others as quickly as possible about the ramifications of the suggestion of a world order. A major step toward that “world order” will be redistribution of wealth via the Copenhagen Treaty.

It has never been more critical to reach out to our neighbors, friends, and colleagues to get the word out. America is a constitutional republic and will be staying that way!   It is up to us.

New Health Plan set to “Crush” the Middle Class

Posted on October 30, 2009. Filed under: Activism, Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , |

Editorial note: All the numbers and facts were obtained from the Census Bureau, Unemployment figures, Medicaid and Medicare information, the CBO letter to the House and the Healthcare Proposal released on October 29, 2009.

Let’s begin with stating the facts we can all agree upon at this time. The most pressing problems with current healthcare systems are as follows:

  1. Non-coverage of pre-existing conditions
  2. Some people don’t have coverage
  3. Can’t afford it
  4. CHOOSE not to have it and save money
  5. High premiums

The new plan, will allegedly result in a neutral monetary impact for the government (current admiministration claim). The Congressional Budget Office claims the cost will be close to 1Trillion dollars. Yet with the increased taxes on the people, there will be minimal negative impact to the government deficit. With the increased tax, and medicare and Medicaid cuts, it won’t impact the government. It will most severely impact the middle class. The Medicaid cuts won’t begin to address the fact they are including a larger group of people in the Medicaid program under the new Healthcare plan. The people who work and contribute will be paying exorbitant premium increases to accommodate the many new inclusions in the healthplan.

In a nutshell, here is how the new plan will be paid for by working Americans (numbers from Bureau of Census, Unemployment Department and the Social Services Branches of government respectively) : The premium percentage limit specified will be based on the modified gross adjusted income of the people who are working. If you strive to work hard and reap the rewards of a free enterprise system, this Healthplan will be penalizing you on the reward.

Take a look at the numbers:

  1.  # of 18 and under: 73.9M
  2.  # of unemployed in the country at this writing: 15.1M
  3.  # of working age adults = 191.2M

What do the numbers mean to America with this new health plan?

191.200,000        Working age people in this country.
– 15.100,000        Unemployed people
176.100,000        Working age people  employed
– 3,950,357           Working age people on welfare
172,149,643          Working age people who are employed
– 46,995,000        Approximately uninsured in the country
125,154,643          Working age people who are employed
– 11,900,000       Estimated number of illegals in the country as of March 2009
113,254,643        Approximate total number of gainfully employed people

307,818,616         Total population per census bureau
-255 ,143 ,000      # of people covered on insurance in 2008 census
  52,675,616           Not insured
– 11,900,000        Estimated illegal aliens
40,775,616            People who are legal and uninsured (13.25% of population)

If we look at the number of gainfully employed people (primarily middle class), these numbers and the newly proposed healthcare plan tell a specific story:

  1. Increase benefits for Medicaid recipients from 57% contribution by the government to 91%
  2. Poverty level now to be determined by up to 150% of the actual poverty guidelines (Millions more of the population will be able to go on government sponsored Medicaid)
  3. Employers will be better off financially paying the fine, not offering coverage, and simply have employees take public options
  4. Parents will be required by law to provide insurance coverage for children up to the age of 27

Whether we include the illegal immigrants or not, the tax burden for the above mentioned items, and to insure non-working people falls squarely on the shoulders of the middle class. There are some slight numerical differences noted in the reports from the various government agencies – but you can see the concept of what is happening here. The primarily middle class working Americans will be paying for everyone. The majority of the companies will opt to pay the fines and the employees will need to go on the public option. This will save the companies money and result in a premium that is 3-4 times higher (conservative estimate) than what a person pays today. This factors in the company is no longer subsidizing the person’s premiums, benefits are improved, and the person must contribute to paying for the non working individuals.

**New plan includes $558 billion in revenues from tax provisions (per CBO)

The changes in revenues include effects on Social Security revenues, which are classified as off-budget. Starting in 2013, nonelderly people with income below 150 percent of the Federal Poverty guidelines would generally be made eligible for Medicaid; the federal government would pay a share of the costs of covering newly eligible enrollees that averaged about 91 percent. (Under current rules, the federal government usually pays about 57 percent, on average, of the costs of Medicaid benefits.) In addition, states would be required to maintain current coverage levels for individuals under Medicaid and some children in CHIP through 2019. Beginning in 2014, states would shift some children in CHIP to Medicaid, but the federal government would continue to provide enhanced reimbursement, which currently averages about 70 percent, to states for providing such benefits. CBO estimates that state spending on Medicaid would increase on net by about $34 billion over the 2010–2019 period as a result of the provisions affecting insurance coverage.

There were many other “addons” that were unnecessary but which directly burden the taxpayers. This is another good example of zero fiscal responsibility in the House at this time. They won’t be paying the bill – we will! For instance the government will judge the geographies of each state to determine cost of living adjustments. An example would be that Texas has a good economy and a much better cost of living than California. The cost of living adjustment means a Californian would pay less and a Texan would pay more to make up the difference. If you believe the country is suffering economically now, just wait until your insurance premiums quadruple to pay for all the extras in the new plan. It doesn’t just “fix” the issues in the healthcare system, there are noticeable “improvements” for the non working people in the country. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a classic redistribution of wealth in the country.

#12 Representative Henry Waxman, It is time to go!

Posted on October 28, 2009. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , , , , , , |

Waxman

Congressman Henry Waxman (Dem) was elected to Congress in 1974.  He is up for re-election in 2010.

There are volumes about this man and what he has done in the government since 1974.   I will attempt to touch on the most salient points, as I found him to be one of many “blights” we are seeing in the American government today.  Representative Waxman has moved residence 3 different times in his career and has been elected in three different voting districts.  He has sponsored 149 bills in his career and 6 have passed.  The primary watchdog groups in the country have rated him as being consistently far left in his views.

Representative Waxman has worked with the Apollo Institute to generate the Cap N Trade Bill.  People reported on the ideas of the Apollo Group for economic recovery and Cap N Trade as far back as 2003.  Evidence can be found of this.  The bills that were passed by the Congress are almost identical to the left wing lobbyist ideas to be found on the Apollo Institute website.

Who is the Apollo Institute?  They are an organization made up of various unions in the country and other special interest groups gathered under the umbrella of Apollo Institute.  One of the many left wing financial supporters Apollo Institute is the Joyce Foundation. This is the group often associated with trying to get rid of the people’s right to bear arms. There are numerous known Marxists and Socialists who support the Institute. The Apollo Institute claims to be a non-profit and is owned by the Tides Corporation.  These are the people who produced the indoctrination video that was purchased by over 7,000 schools.  The film taught the children that capitalism is bad for the people of America.  Do you know who will benefit from the Cap N Trade Bill that was designed primarily by the Apollo Institute? Their board members consist of people who own heavy interests in alternative energy companies and in companies that produce the components for solar energy.  The majority of their members are the 17 largest unions in the country and the major lobbyists in the US.

There are two obvious questions to ask.  What is in it for all the unions?  What is their real end goal in getting their goals accomplished?  What did they get out of the American Recovery Act and what will they get from the Cap N Trade?  What was in it for Representative Henry Waxman to do their bidding on two major pieces of legislation (Healthcare bill HR3200 before Congress and the Cap N Trade Bill)?

The small business groups have rated Congressman Waxman in the lower percentile groups throughout his career.  He does not favor small entrepreneurial enterprises in his legislative votes.   Clearly his allegiance is to the labor groups and lobbyists if one looks at his overall record on voting and his public speeches.  The American Taxpayer group has rated his performance an F most recently and very low in prior years.  Representative Waxman has voted to spend more money and grow government at every opportunity regardless of the state of the economy.  The conglomerate of lobbyists and unions has the ear of Henry Waxman , more than the people of the United States.

He was a co-author of legislation that abolished mandatory retirement for Federal employees and raised the retirement age in the private sector from 65 to 70.  Please note this increases the time an elderly person must work in most cases.  It also does NOT apply to the politicians in the Congress, Senate, and Judiciary that govern all of us.

Representative Waxman voted against the proposed bill to withhold federal funds to ACORN.  This organization is being investigated in 14 states for voter fraud.  There have also been several covert films made recently that captured the ACORN people advising people on how to handle businesses with underage prostitutes.  This man clearly has some kind of motivation to “protect” interests with ACORN.

In 2009, Rep. Waxman became Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. The Energy and Commerce Committee has principal responsibility for legislation and oversight in the areas of public health, consumer protection, food and drug safety, air quality, the environment, energy, telecommunications, and interstate and foreign commerce.  After all the years of dubious associations, poor judgment, and lavish spending, can Henry Waxman be entrusted with such a powerful position in our legislature?

His allegiances aren’t in the best interest of the people, if you look at his entire record.  There is no plausible explanation as to why he would choose to continue to give taxpayer money to an organization under investigation in so many states.  Representative Waxman, you have been in office too long.  It is time to go!

“If we resort for a criterion to the different principles on which different forms of government are established, we may define a republic to be, or at least may bestow that name on, a government which derives all its powers directly or indirectly from the great body of the people, and is administered by persons holding their offices during pleasure for a limited period, or during good behavior.”

#11 Representative Anthony Weiner, It is time to go!

Posted on October 23, 2009. Filed under: Politics | Tags: , , , , , , |

weiner

Congressman  Anthony Weiner (Dem), was first elected to the House in 1998.  He is up for re-election in 2010.

This Representative  has become known for being one of the “point” people on the Healthcare Reform options being considered by the Congress and the Senate.

Weiner Responds To Senate Finance Committee Rejection Of The Public Option

Congressman Anthony Weiner (D – Queens & Brooklyn), Co-Chair of the Caucus on the Middle Class and member of the House Energy & Commerce Committee released the following statement on today’s Senate Finance Committee vote rejecting the public option:

“It should come as no surprise that the Finance Committee rejected the public option amendment offered by Senator Rockefeller”

“After all, the health insurance lobby has won virtually everything it has fought for in the Finance Committee to date.”

“Fortunately, the bill is not being written in the Senate Finance Committee.”  “The American people support a public option. Doctors want a public option. The President has said he wants a public option. Without a public option there will be no competition, no cost containment and less choice. That is why it will be part of the bill.”

Polls and newscasts have begun to show the “facts” stated above, in the Senator’s speech, are not true.

Here are some key facts on the Senator’s record:

1)     Weiner has been onboard completely with the Obama administration’s lavish economic policies from  the beginning.

2)      His “good judgment included a request to release a man from prison who had received a life sentence for passing classified information to Israel.   Clearly the deed was serious enough to receive this sentence as dictated by the laws of the land, yet Congressman Weiner wanted a “custom” justice mandated for his cause.

3)      He touted how much the stimulus plan would “help NYC”.  It is now nearly at the end of October 2009.  There have not been any new jobs created in the entire state of NY by this bill (per recovery.gov).  Given the text of his earlier speech it appears the NYC area will be recipients of entitlements and grants.  The entire country (primarily the middle class) will be taxed to pay for NYC initiatives is what this means.  People in Brooklyn and Queens (the middle class) will be getting new taxes as well to help pay for the enormous stimulus package.  Somehow in the speeches he fails to alert constituents of the tax bill they will be paying for many years due to this law.

4)      Most recently, he had blasted the Social Security Administration for not giving a cost of living raise to the elderly.   This seemed odd given there was no cost of living increase in the economy this year per statistics.  **Remember he is up for election in 2010.

His resume and speeches indicate a person very “hungry” for the power and notoriety that comes with politics.  For instance, since the beginning he has touted a special “bond” and support for the middle class.  The middle class represents the majority of his New York district.  Usually he has attempted to introduce tax cuts for the middle class when it is close to an election year.  Yet, he is now proposing a sweeping Healthcare Reform Bill with a public option that would result in a much heavier taxation of the middle class and impose hardships on the elderly.  Representative Weiner has been in the “limelight” on the House Floor anytime there is an opporunity to be high profile on pro-Obama administration positions.  His speeches for the middle class are visible in every major talk show.  This keeps the people back in his District happy because they visibly “see” him saying things in support of them.  However, on the floor of the Congress  he has has been a strong supporter of virtually every major spending initiative by this administration (which will definitely result in hardship for the middle class).  This ensures he will get campaign support on a priority basis from this administration.

Recently in the Congress several amendments were brought forward to “itemize” several Solar studies and projects in the range of hundreds of millions of dollars.  May I remind everyone that Exxon Mobil, and all the other oil majors around the world have done exhaustive studies in this area and determined the technology is not there at this time to make this a cost effective solution for America or anyone else.  Yet, the Democrats passed all the amendments without flinching spending hundreds of more millions of dollars when the country is deep in debt and in extreme trouble financially.  Senator Weiner has made statements that this administration is progressive and “tackling” all the hard issues.  So now the politicians believe they can resolve all the issues with solar, regardless of the consistent and numerous results found by other expert studies over the past 5 years.  Did I mention that many of the companies who will be recipients of these millions of dollars in funds for studies are heavy Democrat supporters?  How convenient as we are approaching another election year for many of the heavyweights in the Democratic party!

So what is real?  His desire to help the middle class in election years, or his eagerness to “perform” on camera for the White House?  There is a consistency in his voting and numerous speeches on the House Floor.  He will support  all visible Democrat initiatives regardless of whether it benefits his beloved middle class.

Representative Weiner has been the protégé of Senator Schumer for several years, and is well-known as someone who has full and easy access to all the powerful people in the current administration.  From all appearances and from his pattern of behavior this appears to be another “Schumer in training”.  Is this really a good thing for the Constitutional Republic?  Congressman Weiner has quickly become the “consummate” politician learning how to placate his constituents in a visible manner and be the “popular guy” with the White House.  For this adept ability to speak from both sides of his mouth almost simultaneously, Congressman Weiner, it is time to go!

Whenever a man has cast a longing eye on offices, a rottenness begins in his conduct.  ~Thomas Jefferson

About Texas for 56

Posted on September 28, 2009. Filed under: Activism, Politics | Tags: , , , , , |

This is a blog for the people, by the people, and all people who love the country and the constitution.  People who love our way of life.  Yes, we have problems like any other society.  We can work on those.  There is no need to throw away all that is good in this land.

Many years ago, 56 men of  strong moral character and conviction, signed a document that began an incredible journey for this nation.  They had a vision of a government for the people and by the people.  These men had reasoned through the major pitfalls and things to be careful about at the beginning of this monumental undertaking.  There were warnings of  not allowing government to grow too big as there would be inherent dangers.  The liberty of the people could be threatened if government assumed too much control.  We are out of control today.  The government has grown so massive that very little of the people’s voice can reach them.  There is corruption and graft at the highest levels. We the people need to take back our control.

Several weeks ago, Glenn Beck on Fox News suggested we should find 56 honorable men and women in the Senate who want to “refound” the country back to the original premise.   These men and women would be willing to stand up and say “Enough of the corruption”!

It is my belief that this may be difficult.  However, I agree 100% that we the people need to take action.  What can we do?   It seems easier at this point to identify who needs to go in the House and the Senate.  I am writing these blogs to cast light on who has “lost their way” and needs to go.  Beginning with the Speaker of the House and continuing through the rest of them. . . one step at a time.

Time is of the essence.  We need to mobilize and identify opposing candidates across the country.  America, time to get busy!
